I get the Z flip 3 but I truly don’t get the concept of the other one. Yes it has a big screen, but I can only imagine how thick that thing is and how uncomfortable it has to be in the pocket. Plus a screen that big is just a bigger screen with no benefit. I have an iPad and multitasking on that with two apps opened side by side is not really amazing because it doesn’t offer enough screen for either app and I can’t imagine going even smaller. The Z flip is a phone I do like but I won’t leave iOS for Android. Samsung also needs to get rid of the bloat ware. Here’s a list of my last Samsung phone I had with apps I did not want and could not delete:

Facebook & Instagram

Some game(s) don’t remember what they were called

A few google apps that got outdated: play music, google+, hangouts, ect.

Amazon (by the way I do have Amazon but the default version got updated and so you have to keep the old one on there that does not work and the one you download from the playstore)

IMB

Kindle

A million Samsung apps that are far inferior to googles apps

Verizon suite that included literally over 9 apps

Simple apps like the help and emergency alerts… why can this not be in the settings app or something.

I'm wondering on Samsung forums do new Apple products get major announcements like this and pushed in their face? 🤔 At any rate the foldable phone is a gimmick due to having no other innovative ideas. Nice attempt Sammy.

I think the Flip looks great. But I also have lived through the first stage of when cell phones were offered as foldables, and there are two things I know will be issues with these devices. One is the hinge. A mechanical hinge is a failure point, regardless of how much time and money Samsung spent on improving it. It’s not a question of whether it will fail, but rather when it will fail. And no, testing the fold using some contraption isn’t the same as someone using it in the real world, where it is constantly being handled and put away in a pocket, purse, bag, all places where it will be subjected to dust, sand and other detritus that will gum up the mechanism.

The second issue is the screen, including it’s own living hinge. Folding anything made with plastics, over and over again, will cause it to fail. And there is just no way the ultra thin glass and plastic cover on the screen won’t scratch to the point of failure, especially when you factor in dust, sand, loose change, maybe a set of keys, all those things that will come into contact with the device while in a pocket or bag. It’s made worse by the fact that it’s not an even flat fit between the two halves, since the screen requires the hinge to allow for a large enough radius.

I remember back in the days of the Razr from Motorola, how so many people I knew had one and they all ended up dealing with broken hinges at some point. Obviously things have changed since then, but the shift to slab devices was helped along by the fact that flip devices had hinge issues.

The Flip is pretty cool... I'm definitely ready for that form factor to make a comeback. But the crease is still a problem... if they can eliminate that, and slim down the whole device, it would be perfect. Hopefully Apple can accomplish that.
With you on this. I'm not sure whether I'd buy one, since I use my phone case as a wallet, but I could at least imagine using one if it worked right.

But the two critical parts are that the exterior needs to be tough enough to use it with no case, so you can just toss it in your pocket like the old days, and you need to be able to quickly and easily snap it open with one hand, also like the old days.

Ye olde flip phones were fun and functional because they did both of those things--you didn't need a case since the exterior protected the screen and was pretty much indestructible, and you could quickly snap it open with one hand to see the screen and snap it closed with one hand to toss it back in your pocket. It worked right and it felt right, which means a huge amount for a device you'll be doing that with constantly throughout the day.

If you need both hands to crank it open, it's not there yet.

New tech is expensive.
Even more a reason to skip this version.
People seem to forget that when the OG iPhone came out it was SUPER expensive for the time.
It was also the first of it's kind and revolutionary so there was no real competition doing the exact same thing.
New tech; expensive. After a few years it comes into lines with the market with scale.
Provided this crap from Sammy actually penetrates the market. It's too much of a gimmick and offers no real necessity. It's just a "Look what I got you guys!" type of product.

I like the Z Fold 3, because bigger screen = more enjoyable movie/gaming experience. Still waiting for the technology to become robust enough for real world use.

The Flip 3, no interest from me. I'll stick with a the more robust non-folding phone because I'm a guy. Our pants have real pockets. The day this technology becomes common place, I might change my mind.

But this is not iPad. This is useless device with strange aspect ratio display and awful crease.
again, this is not ipad because Samsung is not Apple.Samsung dont makes ipads
But when apple will come with a foldable...they will charge you more than current iphone pro max segmenet and canabilze the ipads..like they did with the iphone>ipod
Why? because apple is the only one that can have a foldable that it runs 19.5:9 ratio by default, unfolded, running iOS, and when its folded it runs ipadOS with ipadOS apps with 4:3 aspect ratio
Thats why Apple will be on top of this foldable segment

Wow the Z Flip 3 is just glorious. Would have preferred a slightly larger battery, but this is innovation at its finest. Honestly Apple need to hurry the hell up and release their version ASAP. The Z Flip 3 is $999 and is well worth it in my opinion. I would gladly pay slightly more than this for Apples version.
I'd like to see Apple's take on this, too. I have a 12 mini because I want a small(ish) phone. The Z Flip 5G tempted me, but it was too expensive and I'd miss a lot of iOS-specific stuff. I like where this is headed.

Yes, places like Android Central have Apple product announcements too.

The Fold is hardly a gimmick. Samsung is doing what Apple used to do: innovate. Meanwhile, iPhone event 2021: let me guess. Better camera, faster processor. New iOS with a few new features. Again.

I stick with Apple due to the ecosystem and I like iOS a little better. But Apple can't rely on that forever.

I love the look of the Z-flip, but after that DankPods video, I don’t think I’d want to risk owning one.

I don't think I'd buy either of these folding phones, as they are not the best solution for my needs and budgets. But I think both are great. I would use the heck out of the Fold 3. I do multitask quite a few times/week with my phone, and that would go up with more screen space. The Flip 3 just looks like a good phone and a reasonable price point If my pants had small pockets, that would be my first choice in phones. And it looks beautiful.

I like the concept with the Galaxy Fold - it’s a phone, a tablet, and even a desktop computer via DeX all in one. Unfortunately it’s also priced as if it is, and there are compromises and likely durability issues to each aspect of its function.

That Galaxy Watch 4, um...odd choice of font on the numerals
The "1" looks like....oh never mind.
