Welcome to the world of burn-in. Can't wait to see the complaints.
Unfortunately, I'm thinking the same think. The random reports of yellow tints etc, will be replaced by random reports of burn-in.

I hope apple doesn't make that iphone look like a generic black slab, like the other phones that are supposedly competitors.

I've had OLED panels in my phones for years. I've got an OLED TV which I've had for about four years.

The only time I've noticed any sort of burn-in was on a phone a few years ago where, for some reason I can't remember, my phone's screen was completely white. Looking very hard you could just about see a shadow of the clock.

But that's it.
If you've been reading this forum, this is no nitpicking too small to make the issue a world-class issue.o_O

Every technology is going to have some or the other flaw. Even if Apple moves to QuantumDot LCD or MicroLED some other issue will crop up. Guaranteed. Nothin g is perfect. OLED will give better color accuracy, infinite contrast and power benefits so its a worthy tradeoff .Burnin only happens if you keep the phone on 24x7 on max brightness. Some amount of yellow tint is present out of box on all LCDs. This will be sorted with OLED

The iPhone looks dated. I hope Apple takes some cues from its competitors and spices it up. But considering the Second screen, smaller bezels and curved edge display there is nothing to worry as far as I am concerned

None of my phones have this so called yellow tint or have ever developed it; which contradicts your sweeping generalization. And those random cases will be replaced by burn-in.

The iPhone does not look dated, imo, as it looks better than a generic slab. I sincerely hope a new design does not turn its back on an iPhones iconic look.

None of my OLED (2 to be specific) devices has burn in which contradicts your sweeping generalisations. Almost all of my LCD devices have yellow tint which I proved by pics in another thread

And it's not random cases as there's over 100 pages threads on MR and I myself experience it on every iPhone release . I was lucky this time around

What you call a generic slab is something Jony Ive had wanted to make for a long time .An iPhone with a smooth sheet of glass has been his vision for the iPhone

With removal of the home button, the look is definitely going to undergo a massive Change

There are 1 billion idevices out there. 100 pages of threads for 1 billion idevices is what .00000001% of complaints? That's really not much, considering online forums are a magnet for complaints. Most people do not post to not complain.

And my iphone 4 going on 7 years and ipad 2 do not have yellow tint.

And I've already proved burn-in is a certainty. You can "save" your oled phone by not having much screen on time, but color shifting and burn-in are a fact of life with oled.

Jony Ive does not want to produce a generic slab. He wants to produce something uniquely apple. Since these are all rumors, we will have to wait for the reveal.

Just like your complaints of burn-in using web forums is 0.0000001% of complaints

Open a white image on your iPhone 6s and turn the phone upside down. You will see the tint. After using the devices for a while your eyes get used to it. Turning the device upside down breaks the habit and you see it

Where is the data on this? What proof do you have? Some blog trying to make click bait articles? Have there been mass recalls regarding the issue? You can also try to "Save" your yellow tint by tweaking color temperature or getting used to it but yellow tint and backlight bleed are a fact of life with LCD

You remove the home button. You get a giant black slab

Except "yellow tint" is random, burn-in is a certainty.

I've already done "all of those" test on my 6s out of an abundance of curiosity, there is no tint.

Where is the data on this? What proof do you have? Some blog trying to make click bait articles? Have there been mass recalls regarding the issue?
There is data all over the internet, just do a web-search on "oled burn-in". By your previous logic having these issues appear on page 1 make them real issues.

The home button isn't removed until apple says it's removed.

Where did you prove burn in is a certainty? If you are talking personal experience I had the opposite experience. All of my iPhones except for the 7plus had yellow tint and I proved my point by posting pictures off my devices. None of my OLED devices had burn in. Now do you have a factual source like mass recalls regarding burn in?

Post the picture of your device here. I will point out the tint to you. Its possible you had a rare good unit just like my 7 Plus but its definitely the luck of the draw. I have seen 7 Plus with yellow tint in the wild

Just searching for iPhone LCD yellow tint shows just as many results? I am not denying the inherent potential of burn in .But you seem to be denying the inherent potential of yellow tint. Saying OLED burn in is a fact of life and not yellow tint is incorrect.

The home button isn't removed until apple says it's removed.
Good luck but I wouldnt get my hopes up. You remind me of those who were insisting Apple would not remove the headphone jack when it was obvious

The virtual home button in the 7 Plus was just a transition towards integrating the Taptic Engine into the screen itself

Burn-in is part of the technology, just like an internal combustion engine will "use gas" and that doesn't have to be "proved". You can avoid burn-in by not using your device much, I guess.

I'm not getting into that nonsense. With 8 idevices none of them had it, because it's not inherent in the technology, such as burn-in. It's the result of manufacturing conditions.

Oled does burn-in, it's a proven, immutable fact; if you use it. If you don't use your oled screen you may not notice that or color-shifting. Yellow tint is the result of manufacturing conditions and is not a function of the technology.

Good luck but I wouldnt get my hopes up
If I were you, I wouldn't either.

Burn in only happens if you use the device on max brightness 24x7. At least that's avoidable. Yellow tint is unavoidable. I did ask several persons using the iPhone 6 about the tint and they said it didn't bother them. So maybe that's why this isn't made out to be an issue as people live with it

Since none of my OLED devices have burn I can conclude it's not an inherent issue as that seems to be the basis of claims

Just because you don't notice the tint doesn't mean it's not there.Take 2 iPhone 7 devices and place them side by side.Guaranteed the colour temperature will vary. This doesn't happen with OLED

The solid state home button(Its actually not even A button so the home button has already been removed) was a transition towards removing the button design entirely . Apple first tested out the Taptic Engine in the wild to see if if any issues arose. Since nothing happened they can remove it and place a flexible on screen home button with the same Taptic Engine and eliminate the bezels entirely fitting a 5.5 screen in the same size as that of he 4.7

All I said is it's part and parcel of the technology, but there is enough on the internet that people post about it and evidence exists it's a real thing, moreso than so-called "yellow screens".

Sure conclude anything you want.

This is so-flawed on many levels. Just because I say yellow tint isn't there doesn't mean it really is either.

It's not official until apple says its official.
