Apple uses Samsung OLED screens for their iPhones, but managed to bend them in a manner that helped reduce the bezels in their iPhone X lineup. Most android phones don't share such symmetry, despite using similar components themselves. Not even Samsung.

Good marketing but simply not true, but repeated by people who are unaware or simply obtuse.

The iPhone looked futuristic in 2017 but looks absolutely dated compared to most phones now.

I am still using an 8+. So a notch would actually be a step up in this regard.

Samsung was selling Connect Tags (the predecessor of these SmartTags) 5 years ago - well before there were even any rumours of AirTags AFAIK. No they certainly weren't the first - Tile and even MS/Nokia pre-dated this, but to say they're copying Apple with these is a pretty weak accusation.
Timing is just a massive coincidence then.. again?!

The author of the above (main article) obviously doesn't follow Apple very closely...

"...will want to price the AirTag competitively..." ???

Apple doesn't price their products competitively in any way shape or form any more.

For all we know, they may cost $100 each because that's what Apple thinks we should pay.

Other than that... What's this about AirTag going to use other people's devices to locate an item?? Is that going to infringe on my privacy, and battery power?
To my knowledge apple is already using that technology to track Macs with the find my app. Since iOS 13 every iPhone serves as a relay beacon, helping locate lost devices. It doesn’t seem to affect battery life at all.

My point is Samsung released a product in 2016. News that Apple is developing a similar product breaks in 2019. Here we are in 2021 and Samsung announce up update to their original product, yet it's them who get accused of copying Apple?

must be said though the samsung air tags are bluetooth only and their smart tag+ aren't even available yet which is the one that uses ultra wide band tech which you will see on the apple's air tags

All the years I've been on this site it's the same thing every time. Some if you sound like 12 year olds arguing over whose mom makes the better PB and j sandwich. Who gives an F just eat it!
Some prefer samsung, some prefer apple. I'm sure companies copy other idea all the time. Makes better products for the consumer. Grow up and enjoy whatever products you like.

There’s people who buy Apple products because they like them and can be reasoned with, then there’s the fans, the fanatics, the fanboys...those are the delusional ones everyone should avoid. 99% of the population in Apple forums fall under the latter.

As I said, yet another ‘coincidence’ .
Seem to be quite a few of these far as Samsung is concerned 🤔

whenever someone says "Samsung doesn't copy Apple", just point them to this and a bunch of other examples in the past.

Samsung copies Apple. Plain and simple.

Yes this product is truly unique, definitely nothing else like it already on the market.

The only plausible explanation can be that Samsung have copied a product that Apple might make ...

Exactly my point. They don't set their own path. They look at what Apple is doing and try to earn a quick buck by being first, whether it's indirectly through brownie PR points or rumors setting the trends thereby increasing demand for a similar product.

Apple is simply looking at what UX they can improve and focus their energy on that. Of course, then they charge the ton for that solution.
I misread your original post. You were right. My bad 100%.
