Honest question:
Why is it that Microwave, Toaster, Blender, watch, Airplane, Laptop and camera manufacturers have been standardizing on design for decades. But when it comes to the iPhone/iPad then people start screaming "lawsuit!"

Yes, Apple is being copied but when did a unification of a design ever been a bad thing for the CONSUMER? Isn't this simply how things have always worked because without a leading design then refrigerators wouldn't be allowed to open sideways, cars would be forced to have different wheel shapes and smartphones wouldnt be allowed to be a simple blank slate.

Edit: If you're going to thumbs down me then can you at least explain why? I really don't understand the anger some people have with this subject because the real fault seems to be the leniant patent offices.

True, but make yourself at least little bit original, like SE with Xperia Arc or Nokia with its new line of phones.

Wonder how this would go on court?

So let's evaluate what's happened in this thread you made:

1. You posted pictures of two devices that had been fundamentally altered in order for the statement that they were clearly so similar to hold up.

2. Now you're posting a picture of an iPod... and a Zune that doesn't exist... to... what? I don't even understand now what the purpose of that was because the Microsoft device you listed isn't available.

You started a thread about Samsung's lack of originality but you've since moved on to target Microsoft in the same thread. The problem is the device you listed from Microsoft doesn't exist on the consumer market so it's a moot point.

This is an APPLE FORUM! Obviously his point is that anything non-Apple sucks, is a blatent copy, and should be banned.

All that matters is I plugged this boxy touchy thing and iTunes saying that it's [username]'s iPhone. That's what matters to me :p
