hmm...a video released by an insurance company conducting an unrealistic test in order to convince you to purchase their services. sounds good.

The hypocrisy is continued though by the apple defenders. It's amusing to see some cry "hypocrisy" for Samsung (which I don't disagree with) while committing the same sin they are accusing others of. The gloating over some stupid lab test which is useless in the real world is very telling.

Great post!

Uh... it is Us vs Them. What is the point of a commercial who point and plot is basically -- "Hahaha, look at you. You're standing in line for an Apple phone that doesn't have XYZ or ABC or 1234! You're stupid!" Regardless, of what the ***-gate of the day it's always a variation of that. Are you seriously going to say PC vs Mac, Android vs iOS, Glorious PC gaming master race, isn't us vs them?

Us vs them? LMAO seriously dude? You're defending a multi billion dollar global empire, as if they honestly give a damn about you. You're nothing but a dollar sign to them, nothing more...nothing less. This is Samsung vs. Apple. We have 0 to do with this. It's two multi billion dollar companies, who could buy and sell each of us if they wanted to quite frankly, going head to head in competition. What makes me laugh, is how serious the Apple fans are taking this crap. Some of yall are acting like Samsung murdered your dog or something. And yeah Samsung has taken shots at Apple, but guess what? Apple has done the same. They're not innocent, neither are Apple fans. Again, go back and look at the comments made by Apple fans when Instagram came to android. The comments ranged from rude to downright racist.

A person preferring Apple is one thing. Again, I love my iPhone if you wanna debate about Apple and other companies and iOS and android and Windows Phone and whatever else...cool. But all of this "APPLE FANS, WE MUST UNITE TO TAKE DOWN THE EVIL SAMSUNG!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!! DO IT FOR STEVE!!!" BS is a tad bit ridiculous IMO. Getting angry b/c somebody doesn't think the iPhone is the best phone, is ridiculous. IMO the GS6 Edge is the best phone right now and will probably be the best phone of 2015. I'm sure many here will disagree and that's ok. That's perfectly fine. I'm not gonna get angry and take it personally b/c somebody has a different opinion than me.

Samsung always invents an angle to attack Apple with since their phones suck and don't sell.

I mean really dude? Come on

This article is a total missing of the point and the test is a flawed comparison (s6 should be used here- not the edge - which has less chassis support). Bendgate was never about the center of the phone; it was about the area near the volume rocker being a weak point in the construction of iphone 6+. It bent under 70 lbs of pressure near the volume rocker as opposed to 110 lbs for the middle of the phone, which is a low enough threshold to have it happen in pants pockets. The issue has since been corrected by Apple with a manufacturing change.

So no, this isn't the same. But it doesn't matter anymore because Apple fixed this issue a while ago.

Again, total straw man. Choosing to see, read and create your own little scenario.

80% of people here don't care about the stupid lab test. Why? Because the Iphone would also fail it; that's the whole point. They'd all fail.

So, who cares about the test!

What people gloat about is Samsung and its large group of sycophants being proven hypocrites, by comparing past and current reactions. The crazy unrelenting fury of over the top histrionics and outrage that invaded this site for 2-3 weeks and produced a thousand pages for no real reason, can't be forgotten. It was that bad.

Also, why do you care that we point a bemused finger towards towards last years' bezerkers for their actions. They'll live it up and soon this all will blow over.

Of course it does, samsung copied the iPhone 6 well :)

Move away from plastic..... Aluminium bends. Simple

I know Jonny Ive said that, but it's BS. I use my phone just as much when it has a case on it (making it "thicker") as I do when I'm not using a case (and it's at its natural "thinness").

Well, I dont like to use cases and I dont have one but apart from the abovementioned reasons there is a great deal of practical benefits of the thin form factor, especially when we are talking about the most used and carried device by everyone. As I said previosly, increasing thinkness is not the way to increase battery life, or at least not the way I want Apple to achive it since it means making technogical sacrifices with other core aspects that offen can translate in lack of innovative thinking and engineering capabilities.

I'm glad you admitted to gloating. How can I be a straw man when you admitted to it? Doh? YOU are as much of a hypocrite as those Samsung fans, that's my point. YOU are demonstrating "crazy unrelenting fury of over the top histrionics and outrage" I don't think you see it because of the red rage covering your eyes, but you are doing the same thing. I can just see it, you all hunched over in a dark room, white knuckled and furiously pecking at your MacBook keyboard in rage, all those months spent furious at Samsung fans coming out in your moment of vindication.

Samsung always invents an angle to attack Apple with since their phones suck and don't sell.

I have no idea how many phones Samsung actually sells, but it seems like every time Apple releases a new version of their phones, Samsung starts in with the commercials ripping Apple and their customers. It is a relentless year over year insult against the company and customers. They don't stop there either... Print Ads, Banners, Billboards, Press Releases and more.

Apple simply releases commercials showing their products and superb craftsmanship. Huge difference between the two company's and how they approach getting customers. I don't even blame Samsung because they have been playing catchup over and over again for phones.

Whenever Apple releases a phone, Samsung starts ripping Apple phones for not having the same features as Samsung phones. Apple releases the iPhone 6 and all you hear is that Samsung saying welcome to 2014 and where is you SD memory slot and replaceable batteries. Apple ends up selling more iPhone 6 Phones than any other phone and Samsung is back to playing catchup. So what do they do? They make their new phone to look closer to the iPhone 6 and drop the SD slot and replaceable battery and go to all metal.

Now what? Their phone bends just like Apple and I think this whole argument is dumb. Then you find out the S6 is .7 inches smaller than the iPhone 6plus and the same thickness and the bending comparison really should be dropped because the Samsung is bending way worse since it is much shorter. I still think everyone needs to drop this bendgate crap.

I am an apple fan and because of that, I take offense to the commercials by Samsung always poking fun at Apple customers and by Apple customers, they are talking about me and others here. Although I would never wait in a line overnight or even to enter a store, the insults in an attempt to get customers just gets old. Why not just focus on your product and what it has instead of the constant attack. I just don't get it...

By the way, the Samsung bending did make the news this morning here in Minneapolis on channel 9 (fox).

Why? Does a machine have the ability to apply some physical force of nature that the human hands don't have access to?

It's not that. I am pretty sure the machine is very powerful. However, there are more dynamics that go into a hand bending the phone vs a machine bending a phone. I don't think the average human hand can apply the same force as that machine did. (just look at it, the phone was locked in place and was applied pressure to it). It's more interesting to see a person bending it with his two hands, is all.

This bend test is laughable since it doesn't mimic real world and is click bait for the layman. Any device is vulnerable when pressure is applied in the center but that's not how pressure is applied in the pocket which is inwards from the top and bottom edges. True test is if there will be failures from normal use which was an issue with iPhone 6 and 6+. So far even S6 Edge has tougher glass and frame than iPhone 6.

https://youtu.be/DpsyGweP5so

Is this the video of dropping both phones of the roof of a two story building on to cement and the iPhone shatters and the S6 Edge doesn't? If so, congrat's to the S6 but do you really think that is an example of real world or click bait?

I'm being serious... how many iPhone users accidentally drop their phone off a roof from two stories on to cement?

I agree that the S6 should have been used in the test but only against the iPhone 6 and not the 6+ because the 6+ is longer than the both of the S6 models and either equal in thickness or .01 thicker. But pressure tests are good indicators for how much force it takes to bend no matter where it bends but I am also one to say this whole bending debate is just dumb.

Happens to me at least 5 times per day—my damn insurance premiums have gone through the roof. You're just an Apple sheeple! LMAO.

;) and a thumbs up

It really is a bad comeback to a pressure test. I don't agree with the pressure test but people still sit on super long phones or put in their front pockets with varying depths. I know of no one accidentally dropping their phone off a roof. :)

They don't sell more iPhones than all other companies combined, they barely passed Samsung just this year and not by a whole lot either.

I've yet to see a Samsung ripping Apple users I have seen them poke fun at them. I think you need a bit thicker skin

Ouch.

Where are all the Samsung fans from September? I'd like to see what they make of this.

not a fan.

but to me, it was always a benefit of a samsung device. They were great for the corporate / fleet world because they were super robust.

while normal usage shouldn't bend these things, I think that 70lbs of force to bend (what the iPhone6 was rated at by consumer reports) can be too small.

I"m not giant of a man. i'm 180lbs, but I've sat on my phone before at weird angles, I'd hate to think that it was POSSIBLY enough to break any phone.

Thanks... I fixed my comment saying they sold more than any other Smartphone.

Thanks... poke fun sounds nicer than ripping though similar and I have read what the CEO has said. The whole point was Samsung should focus on selling their products without trying to poke fun at Apple because it makes them look desperate. But if that was all you found wrong in the post, I appreciate the correction.

It doesn't make them look desperate to me it makes me smile.

Appke making fun of competitors also makes them sound desperate.
