Laughing at all the people complaining about WiFi 7.

Let’s forget the underpowered processor, poor refresh rates and lag this will have. I can live with 72Hz on the Samsung but dammit, no WiFi 7 on the AVP means it’s worthless. /s

I have zero use for AVP or this from Samsung, but to my eyes, Samsung's looks about 1000X less nerdy.
Some people worry about looking nerdy when there are other more important things to worry about, like looking dumb, acting dumb, being a Bad Bunny fan, acting like him or repeating "6-7" for no reason.
I don't think there's anything lower than that.

Never even heard of a bad bunny outside of viggietales when my kids were small until it came up in some NFL conversation a few weeks back. Well, we did have two long eared french bunnies show up in our yard a couple of years ago. Apparently they broke out of someone's pen. Maybe that makes them bad bunnies, I'm really not sure and I'm not up on bunny morality. Like I said, I've no use for a AR/VR headset @ $1800 or $3500 or otherwise, so it was a simple observation of appearance. You can keep your bunny for yourself.

That was funny, hahahahah! Thank you for making my day.

Just like Vision Pro
Something that garners 10% of the market while being $3500 in an undefined category isn't DOA.

Please stick to the facts here. We all have opinions. Samsung's tech here is far behind, and the OS offers nothing that users actually care about (like sharing a movie together in person, spatial FaceTime, etc)

Just because something doesn't sell as much as the iPhone doesn't mean nobody wants it. The entire Mac computer lineup makes up around 5% of Apple's revenues. Doesn't mean nobody wants Mac computers and Apple should stop making them.
VR headsets will always be a niche compared to other type of devices anyway.
Again it’s not about selling as much as the iPhone it’s a product for your head and this doesn’t work no matter how much technology companies push it this doesn’t work it never has and it never will have longevity because of the human psyche I’ve seen it time & again
It doesn’t matter if it has the greatest piece of technology available individuals buy it to begin with and then as the years go on sales decline and it goes away again and many years later these companies try again and the cycle continues.

They didn’t even bring a new processor. How utterly pathetic. The 6 core XR2 Gen 2 is completely outclassed by even the M2, let alone the M5. And that’s before you account for Apple offloading tasks to the R1 coprocessor.
Right so what’s your actual point because does it actually matter what chip is in the Apple Vision Pro because it obviously makes a big difference that Apple Store’s around the world have individuals queuing around the block desperate to get their hands on it

Please show me another product that does Spatial Personas at any price.
That’s irrelevant and shall I tell you why because number 1 it’s on a headset that most individuals won’t purchase anyway and the
Apple Vision Pro will go the same as the dodo 🦤 just like every other headset item that technology companies keep pushing consistently for many many years it doesn’t work long term

Very happy with my recent switch from Apple to the Samsung/Google ecosystem after what seems like decades with Apple. Must say it has been liberating and ha snot disappointed. Things are half the price and work just as well if not better. Just ordered these.
Disclaimer: I still own Apple stock, so would be nice to get a few flames here so I know my stock is safe for now. ;)

This will flop too but at least it’s lighter and cheaper.
I don't think so. Samsung, Google and Qualcomm are all heavily invested in the XR platform, with lots of products still coming. Really, this is just another example of Apple falling behind on multiple fronts. Foldables, AI, and now meaningful immersion products. Apple wasted too much time on memojis, poop emojis, and failed cars. Sadly, Apple will not be catching up any time soon. Great time to be in the Samsung/Google ecosystem. Seriously, how many more small incremental iPhone updates will float this company? If you like fluff and simplicity, by all means stay with Apple. But if you prefer substance and results, Samsung/Google is the right play.

Love to see competition in this space. Not a Samsung user in general, but I'm really hoping to see more higher end competition to drive prices down and normalise the tech more.

They can still do all of that, and it will still flop and be discontinued because VR is a dead end. Even in gaming, the best use case for VR, it flopped because people reject the idea of wearing screens on their faces, and it goes against our natural instincts (anti social and trapped without being able to perceive our real surroundings).
I totally get not wanting to wear large ski goggles out and about; not going to happen. I'm more interested to see if they can take XR to actual glasses (they are partnering with Warby P). I want to think there is a real use case in a number of settings. Anway, I am happy that Samsung's goggles are half the price and more ergonomic so that it ha smore of a chance to go more mainstream, resulting in more app devleopment and progress in the space.

Can these be used in any meaningful full with Apple gear?
I don't think so, at least not natively.

I'm a little disappointed that Samsung didn't have the courage to open this up to other platforms. It seems like a missed opportunity for them to grab extra sales from Windows and Mac users who would want to use this for virtual desktops. It'd also drive more competition. To use a virtual desktop, you need to use their Galaxy Book running Windows 11. I can appreciate them wanting to stick with the Galaxy ecosystem, but how is a Galaxy Book running Windows 11 different than any other PC? Perhaps third-party remote desktop apps will work for PCs and Macs.

Just to say.

I fully support Samsung and Google making a VR/AR headset (Wish it was Google as opposed to Samsung branded, but hey....)
Having an Android alternative to the Apple system version is great.
And we should want offerings from both sides.

That said I reckon the Samsung headset with flop even harder than Vison Pro, as at least Apple has a small percentage of customers prepared to pay for something high end.

I would have preferred Goggle/Samsung to have tried to hit a price point a little closer to Meta Quest.
A bit more expensive, yes, but make is a an easier purchase.

Or to create something really fancy that the tech people just could not resist.

Right now it feels too expensive, too late, and no enough to make it very special.
