I'm getting so tired of reviews that constantly say "...and that feature is rumored to be coming to the iPhone in 2019/20."

Apple is getting lapped by the field.

When Apple releases their flagship phone late in the year and competing companies drop them early in the year, that is bound to happen. I wouldn't worry about a feature here or there though, you need to look at the whole platform.

I've never airdropped a picture with anyone so that's not something I would ever miss. :D
You can just use Google Photos anyway.
I share photos with my partner all the time and it's seamless.
Airdrop is overrated.

That's one of the perils of putting to many of your eggs in one basket. I don't understand the iMessages Facetime thing though. Perhaps it's peculiar to the U.S. market? Most other countries make good use of WhatsApp Skype etc. for their messaging and video needs, or even Google's own 'messages' app.

Surely you could Airplay to your HomePod using your iPad?
I use both Skype and FaceTime but prefer FaceTime as it’s far less buggy for basic video chat. If I purely went to Skype I’d have to convince everybody I know to download the app and to be honest I might as well stick with the iPhone. People tend to use the platform that best suits them which is why there is no correct answer to this thread.

You formulated your words correctly. I’ve been using Macs for years and the only reason was that the higher prices made that justified. You were sure you were getting high quality hard- and software. Since 2012 those prices keep on climbing. But the hardware has been neglected and the software has been stagnant for years.
Competition kept evolving and invested in better systems year after year.

The state of the Mac is embarrassing today as for the mobile equipment, they’re excessive priced and running a stagnant mobile os.

To say Apple is state of the art today is an outright lie.

You are not wrong, Apple overall has been going downhill. If they continue this path, yes it will be a terrible product with a higher price tag than the competitors. As of now, other users and I still feel it didn't lose its place yet.

It's not simply an opinion, it's fact as attested to by many influential trade writers and reviewers. The world and opinion has moved on, whereas your views are I'm afraid rooted in the past.

I may own Apple products including a Mac but I also recognise reality when I see it. The only real differentiator these days is Apple charge top dollar for the same or a similar experience to that of their cheaper rivals and sometimes their rivals actually do it better.

Ok, why do you own Apple products then if they are higher priced and inferior to their competitors? You choose to spend more money on an lesser product?

Me neither. I actually had to Google it to find out what it does. On learning about this 'great feature' I immediately consigned it to my mental 'trash bin'. ;)

No, I don't choose to spend more money, I get most of my Apple products at 'bankruptcy sales'. I don't claim they are 'lesser products' I'm simply immune to the hype and the Apple juice - unlike some. I recognise there are lots of other good products out there, which is why I own quite a few of them as well.

Hmm, to say a company is going 'downhill' purely because they don't offer all the features and services of another company, yet are worth BILLIONS, just does not make sense.

Bottom line is, people/humans, buy and use the devices/manufactures they like/want to.

I can’t say I use airdrop everyday, however it has its uses at family gatherings where I’m the principal photographer and use airdrop to directly send lots of iPhoto’s directly into recipients camera roll.

Does Adobe really work better on Mac's? This sounds extremely false. Explained in the uploaded screenshot and do to the fact that I edit videos and am a Photographer that uses Photoshop on PC.

So let's say that you created the refrigerator. I looked at your creation and said, "Hmm... This would be better if there were shelves in place to put food on." I proceed to add shelves. Now my idea was good and improved on your invention, but I deserve all the recognition because I improved your invention with shelves? So I'm the real innovator here? Yes or no?
Comparing a refrigerator to a sophisticated face scanning technology is a bad analogy.

The original face scanning on Samsung and other android phones was basically a software thing. A picture compared to a picture.

Face ID OTOH turned it into 3D mapping. Using a dot projector, IR camera and the TrueDepth camera.

Well they are releasing some new Animojis in the latest iOS release, so I suppose you could say that is 'innovation' cough cough. ;)
And what did Samsung do after Animoji??

They created their own lame half assed version of it!

Now that’s innovation!!

I love using airdrop with family members sharing pictures and video. It’s so fast and easy!

Samsung did have an iris scanner, so that wasn’t software and it wasn’t the same thing as the facial recognition feature that’s been around in android since ice cream sandwich.

Has anybody after reading the comments on this thread decided to change platform or is it purely a ping pong debate of insisting personal preferences apply to everybody else?

I have yes

I’m bored of my iPhone and wanted a change and have some real features . I’m still keeping my max though and my iPad Pro so I’m not leaving apple I’m using both

Wow, I thought you’d be the type of person who would make that decision based on what you’ve seen the S10 offer, not because of a load of arguing on a thread. Fair enough though.

No I meant I decided to get the S10 based on the event and what it brought. I wouldn’t buy something based on what people say on a forum. This type of thread is always going to cause issues and back and forth crap that would never end

Ah right that’s why I was surprised you’d answered my question lol. These threads do seem to be full of people insisting others are wrong because they don’t have the same smartphone preferences. Whenever I’ve said I prefer the iPhone for my needs it still gets challenged and I find that rather bizarre as there is no correct answer to this.

End of the day this isn’t a debate about who’s better between say Man City and Liverpool where you can say who’s better this is all about preference after all

Yep, although I avoid all football discussion online at fear of exposing my much higher IQ than the average football fan keyboard warrior lol. Most people I know wouldn’t believe people argue over mobile phones on the internet to be fair.

There is never going to be a right answer here as far as personal preference is concerned.

The only thing you can do is be prepared to stand up for what you believe in.
