Does anyone know what type of NAND cells uses this SSD? Is it QLC, or TLC?
Briefly, QLC is a newer technology aimed at lower the costs of manufacture, and has noticeable less lifespan than the older TLC. In the same way, TLC offers less lifespan than MLC nand, but it was cheaper to produce. I prefer a more expensive SSD if I will be able to use it for more years.Do you mind briefly explaining the difference between both?
I just have it plugged into my USB Port and selected it to be startup drive.Compared to a fusion drive or a legacy HDD? Did you connect it with a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 1/2 adapter?
USB 3.0 and designated as startup drive. I actually have it tapped to back of my iMac to keep it out of the way.Hi when you said I use it with ly late 2012 iMac, do you mean attached to your iMac through the USB 3.0 port or you opened your iMac to replace the internal DD for the SSD ?

appleinsider said this..It doesn't work with iPad Pro and you save $20.

My iMac has HDD so I don't know how it stacks up against one with a fusion drive. But I'm very satisfied with external SSD performance as startup. I still use my internal HDD for data files and backup. Thanks for your reply.
And you see a big improvement through USB 3.0 VS fusion drive ?
Thanks for your reply.

The T5 and T7 are significantly smaller than a 2.5" drive. The touch model is necessarily a bit larger than the non-touch in order to provide space for the touch electronics. This looks good, while the form factor makes more sense for a 2.5-inch spinning hard drive.. it doesn't make sense with SSD because :- (a). you have 90% space, and (b). their only chips,, so apart from the connector, the form factor can be narrowed greatly, i would have thought.
What cables come with the new T7, does it have USBA-USBC & a USBC-USBC like the T5?
Thanks. I overlooked that information on the first post. From the first post in this thread:
Samsung's T7 Portable SSD supports data transfer speeds of up to 1,050Mb/s. It's designed to work with all Macs and PCs, shipping with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-A to USB-C cable.
Oh great to know that there's no issues. That blue is exactly what I'd like too. Looks gorgeous (well, as gorgeous as one might need a portable drive to look). I see it as $169 on Amazon so I'll check the other two places too.I still love mine and it has had zero issues. I have the exact drive you are considering in blue. It is currently on sale on Newegg:

I see Amazon has the 2TB T5 for $362 ... seems odd pricing to be higher than the T7 @$319 currently.I have two 2tb T7's and they are great! I have one permanently connected to my 2018 for data storage, and the second one is a bootable clone of the Mini's 2tb internal ssd. Also have a 1tb T3 and two 500gb T3's. They have all been great. Sorry, mine are all space grey (or whatever they call it) which is a good match for the 2018 Mini and space grey magic keyboard. 😂
FWIW, here is what I get with the T7 connected to the USB-C port. That is roughly twice as fast as my old T3's.

Was going to get a 2tb T5 for the backup disk, but couldn't find any a couple weeks ago. Back in June Amazon had refurb 2tb T5's for $275 and the T7 was $350. But two weeks ago, the new T7 was down to $300 which seemed like a better deal than a $275 T5 anyway.
