Hi everyone I flashed my mp early 2009 to 5.1. I installed high sierra and tried to install a Sapphire Pulse rx 580 8GB video card that should be compatible. Unfortunately the MP does not read it and continues to give me an unloaded kext error. If i leave the old GT 120 installed, the MP starts but not the RX 580 is not recognized, the screen remains black even after the apple chime high, Sierra starts, but the screen remains black without monitor output. Any suggestions? in the forum I have not found suitable solutions

Yes,I tried on two different hd, with last mac os high sierra 10.13.6, but nothing

Put the gt120 in and turn off FileVault.
You need a gpu with Mac efi (boot screen) to access filevault.

Sorry, I explained myself wrong, I meant that I deactivated the filevault on both disks but all the same...nothing.
I read in your configuration that you have the same video card, what are the kext used?

The RX580 is plug and play with Sierra and above.
No need to change anything.
In Sierra it lists as R9...., but HS shows full spec.

Pre-Sierra, people modified kext files to fool the Mac to accept a gpu.
Has this been done previously on your machine.

Check this thread for any symptoms you may have

I read the thread and tried every solution but nothing seems to work. Could it be an incompatibility with processors?

do you wait long enough and what cable are you using, try different ones if you can

-I tried 2 "double 6 pin to 8 pin"
-I changed 2 hdmi cable

if I install rx580 together with the old Gt 120 the mac starts. But the rx 580 card is not recognized. I have CPU 2 E5520 @ 2.27GHz 128 GB ram

Is the GPU new or used?
Have you (or someone else) modified any kext files on your Mac?

GPUs that I have been using for years and are working with the old GT 120. I currently have an HD on which I have made a high Sierra clean installation and an SSD on which I have installed High Sierra with the classic procedure. With both systems I get the same error.

i mean monitor cables, try display-port or DVI if possible.
is that a new card? does it work in a PC ?

intendo cavi per monitor, provare se possibile con display-port o DVI.
è una nuova carta? funziona in un PC?

I've tried everything several times with different cables, but nothing. Tomorrow text the graphics card on a windows pc, if it works it means that the problem is the mac
