What specifically did you do? Was it difficult. I really need one of these, as you can see i my signature, a 1 tb hdd, and a ssd is just for looks without a controller card.
I had a syba card and it caused repeated kernel panics.

What SSD are you using? What speeds is it currently running at? Why would you need a controller for a 1TB HDD?

I am using 120gb ocz agility 4 and 1tb hdd. Sata 3 does not work correctly with the onboard controller.

I do not know about ssd speed. It shows up but I cannot use it.

I've run both at the same time on my quad..Boot SSD of the AS media, storage drive and SATA Blu-Ray off the native SATA ports and eSATA back up's on the SIL card. The SIL card needs a driver from the website to work.

I have a Digital Audio G4 running 10.5.8 and I may be interested in switching over to SATA for the optical drive (just because, really). Do you know of any compatible PCI cards that use the ATAPI command set for doing that (and maybe at least an extra channel or three so that I don't have to use an entire PCI slot just for optical SATA), or are there otherwise any viable options? I've looked online pretty extensively before and couldn't find much of anything that wasn't too expensive to make it worth doing.

I can't help but intell might be able to.

Quite true. You're going about this as if you've never seen the insides of both of the iMacs in question with your own eyes up close and from different angles. I have and I've replaced nearly ever part in both models. It won't work. Let's use 2006-2008 Macbooks as an example. Yes, they look the same on the outside. Even on the inside their boards are very similar. But, the mounting holes are not the same, the heatsinks don't line up, the internal connectors are different and on different parts of the logicboard.

Okay thanks! Perhaps Intell will see this post and offer some insight. :)

He should see it now..

Awesome, thanks dude. :)

I hath been summoned by thy name!!!

PCI SATA cards aren't really within my realm of knowledge. For that you'd want 666sheep. But just remember, that any SATA optical drive would be a waste of resources as optical drives don't even max out a ATA/66 bus.

Ok thanks. I kind of figured as much, hence the "just because" comment. I just thought, I've been running all my internal drives off PCI for years now, why not go ahead and get the last one off the ATA bus?

I too am well versed in this topic as I myself have done it on my G4 Digital Audio awhile back..

If you have a question start your own thread, don't hijack mine.

32 bit??? I have G5 not a G4?

Yes, that is the one I was using. Got it off Amazon for 12.95. The way it shipped to me was set up for eSATA you have to change the pins for internal SATA
I have exactly same one as yours, but it won't boot. What is your rom version, or did you do something specifically like driver installation besides putting the card in slot and connecting SSD? Thank you in advance.
