I understood "Apple accessory" to mean an accessory for an Apple product; not necessarily an accessory made by Apple. Perhaps my command of the English language is incomplete, considering that I'm unfamiliar with the word "pedantic."
The vast majority of users never have anything more than the power cord attached to their computer. And on the incredibly rare chance they do need to connect something else, the 12 hours of battery life the MacBook offers is more than enough time to attach that other device to get their work done.
Do you honestly believe Apple didn't do their homework here and just randomly makes these changes simply because they feel like it?
If there is a massive design flaw here it's not the the hub it's the MacBook! If you need more than a hub then you shouldn't bought the MacBook in the first place. So stop blaming others go complain to Apple maybe they'll make you a better accessory.Yeah looks like a massive design flaw.
Why are chipset manufacturers having such a tough time coming out with a pass through? There was a Kickstarter for a hub that failed because they couldn't find a chipset that worked well and provided pass through. You shouldn't have to sacrifice charging your laptop to plug other devices in.
Wow. Where did your rude snarky response come from? Do you not have a strong grasp on the English language? If you said "an Apple accessory" I'm going to assume you meant an accessory that Apple manufactures and sells.
Some people really make this forum a toxic wasteland.
I still can't believe the macbook only has the one port. I understand the reduced dependence on plugging in, but there's no reason Apple couldn't have had one on each side...
Grammatically, it can mean both. But the post DOES say it wasn't made by Apple. So one would comprehend it as not made by Apple, but an accessory for a Apple.
I currently have an external keyboard, mouse, USB headset and monitor plugged into my laptop. So does everyone else in my office. Maybe grandma and grandpa, or the hipster who spends his entire day at Starbucks writing poetry while listening to Mumford and Sons don't need multiple USB ports, but most people in the professional world do.

Why do you plug those in?????? It's 2015... only the monitor makes sense. And this computer wouldn't be right for you anyway at that point if you insist on ancient wired accessories. Do you need some stone tablets to write on while you are at it?I currently have an external keyboard, mouse, USB headset and monitor plugged into my laptop. So does everyone else in my office. I get 10-11 hours of web browsing on mineThe new MacBook does not offer 12 hours of battery life, it offers 9 hours of "web browsing" and 10 hours of "iTunes movie playback". Sounds like you are confusing the MBA 13" with the nMB.
There was a 9to5 mac review that the guy got seriously less than that using it as his main computer, I think somewhere below 5 hours.
