It never ceases to amaze me how people complain and continue to buy from Apple when they are "denying" users what they want/need.In never ceases to amaze me the raging fixation Apple has for denying users what they want / need !

If only USB C was reliable.I have zero USB-A peripherals. It's been years that -C has been introduced. Come on guys. The SD reader is nice though.
The logo makes this a no-go
Satechi today announced the launch of a new USB-C Clamp Hub, an add-on accessory designed to be used with the new 24-inch M1 iMac models.

The USB-C Clamp Hub has 3 USB-A ports that support 5Gb/s transfer speeds, a micro/SD card reader, and a USB-C port, and it attaches to the iMac using a single USB-C port at the back of the machine.
A knob at the back of the hub secures it to the iMac, and while it is made from an aluminum material that is designed to match with Apple's devices, it is only available in a silver color.
Satechi's USB-C Clamp Hub is available from the Satechi website for $54.99. Customers can get a 15 percent pre-order discount using the promo code IMAC15 at checkout.

One wouldn’t think so the way people get so over-dramatic. At times the drama here gives off the impression that everything in the Windows and Android world are so perfect and that Apple better be careful or everyone will jump ship and go to the “better” side.Because Apple’s ridiculous placement/elimination of ports is a small thing compared to the MacOS. Now that insecurity projecting and thin obsessed Jonny Ive is gone, we see things like ports coming back to Mac laptops.
USB-C is a newer technology that costs next to nothing to buy dedicated cables again. To me, USB C needs to die because I'm tired of having dedicated cables for each device again.
How does newer technology affect how 5V gets from a power adapter to my device?USB-C is a newer technology that costs next to nothing to buy dedicated cables again.
Micro USB is truly the cockroach of connectors.I don't say stuff like this, but, micro-USB just needs to die. The only other connector I hated as much was Firewire 800. It was a big old honk'n plug hanging out the side of my '06 MBP, just begging to fall/be pulled out. 😉
Agree with all of this.Gotta laugh at the anti-USB-A rants.Just curious what you folks are surrounded by...
I'm sat here on my work Lenovo, with 3x USB-A ports, and has a USB-A mouse connected. I don't have a USB-C mouse, but I've probably got 4 USB-A ones about. This Lenovo also has a USB-C I invariably never use as I don't have hardly any USB C things that'll plug into it (certainly not at work, although I'm WFH today).
To my right on the table is a USB-A iPhone charge lead, a USB-A Apple Watch Charger, a no name brand dual USB-A wall charger and a pair of USB-A to micro USB cables. The only thing on this table using USB-C is my iPad pro charging from a USB-C charger (*thinks* but if it wasn't a pro, it'd be lightning, not USB-C, and then there's a fair chance it'd then be running off one of my many USB-A chargers).
Then behind me I have 2 charging booster power packs, both of which have micro-USB charging ports, and all USB-A outputs. They're currently connected and charging from an old iPad charger and another: USB A.
I also have my bicycle lights there: micro-USB charge ports, micro-USB leads, coming from an USB-A charger.
Moving over to my "fun" area, it's the old MacBook Pro, with all USB A ports, running to a one year old top spec RME audio interface, an Ableton Push controller, and a 2 Notes Cab Emulator - all of which came with USB-A cables and I don't have USB-C ones for. And a USB-A hub! Which also runs to another USB-A iPhone lead! There's also 4x USB-A memory sticks here!
Also scattered about the house (other than more USB-A Apple Watch and iPhone Chargers) are more devices like my HDMI audio breakout box, which I power from - you guessed it - a USB-A PSU to mini USB. Also a load of portable external HDDs - all micro USB, or micro-USB3, or big "printer" type with.... USB-A leads!
The only other thing in my house that's USB-C is the 2nd iPad charger I bought.
So, when I likely get my M1X/M2 MacBook when they arrive and it's only USB-C, I'm gonna have to buy a load of new USB-C-to-something wires or dongles, and/or a hub, and most of my stuff will still be USB-A kicking around the house. I love the concept of USB-C/Thunderbolt combined in the newer MacBooks and want stuff to all head that way, but I just can't fathom not wanting *some* USB-A ports still in daily life, unless all your tech is only a couple of years old and you hardly own anything. It's gonna be a damn long time til I don't need a USB-A port every now and again.
P.S. I'm sure I have 101 other unmentioned things in my house with non-USB-C inputs, that I already have hundreds of USB-A cables for.
P.P.S. Just noticed on this table my Ansmann battery charger also has a USB-A output on the top in case you want to charge anything with a USB-A lead via that too! And this Dell monitor also has a built in USB-A hub... so even more USB-A ports right in front of me! In front of me on the drive there's also my van, which... you get the idea...
What would that be? I wanted the ports to be hidden from normal view and that’s exactly what Apple gave me. Maybe people want different things and Apple has to choose? In never ceases to amaze me the raging fixation Apple has for denying users what they want / need !
We want the operating system and environment, not to have to buy countless accessories which should be standard. Particularly when you have been working for a system for a long time you have applications, hardware and experience which binds you to a system. BUT I can still say the lack of ports is stupid and want to buy apple !It never ceases to amaze me how people complain and continue to buy from Apple when they are "denying" users what they want/need.
Pretty sure Satechi like laser etching their logo onto their stuff.Everyone complaining about the logo...it just looks to be printed on it. A little bit of nail polish remover on a q-tip and it should come right off. Clean it up with some rubbing alcohol and it should look great.
Well that wasn't my point, but since you brought that up there are countless 3rd party cables one could buy that Apple doesn't even sell so why do you think Apple would offer limited ports and instead offer a universal solution (TB3/4) with up to 4 ports since they can't really financially benefit from doing so?We want the operating system and environment, not to have to buy countless accessories which should be standard. Particularly when you have been working for a system for a long time you have applications, hardware and experience which binds you to a system.
