I dont why people are getting so worked up about the whole japan thing. i remember George Klein goldfish law, that goes to say, that if 3 million chinese people dies in a earthquake you feel the same way as if your goldfish dies.

Even though its horrible, its true. Its just a media spin atm, therefor everybody feels strongly about it. Its just stupid.

Your perspective has correctly been called vulgar relativism. While there is certainly truth to the fact that loss hurts more when it involves something familiar to us, most of us would acknowledge it as an unfortunate limitation of human beings, not an excuse to be dismissive.

Just because YOU lack the capacity to care about others, don't lump everyone in the same box. It may take effort, but some of us put in the effort to care about others.
