At the end of the day, nothing will happen to you if you steal from Cydia. You risk a restore, but with the quality of a number of the apps/mods found on Cydia, you risk that with almost everything you ever install.

As for your own accusations - you're pointing fingers at someone stealing $2.99 of someone's lonely evenings; you stole someone's mobile phone which probably held unique memories and cost them $1000's to pay for.

These comments are on topic - you're talking about theft. You don't seem to grasp the concept of the meaning of that word.

As a member of a third world country I use crack apps with no fear........why?

Because I cannot make purchases without a US issued credit card....to heck with that :D I bought the phone and I am going to enjoy it:cool:

Believe me I grasp the concept stealling very good, my audi a4 got taken.
And the phone had no value at the moment, sure perhaps $200 or $250 at the moment, it was JB, completely cleaned and no sim, I assume somebody was going to sell it.

I will not debate the meaning of "thief" and find, we all interpret it at our convinience.

"no value" and "$200 or $250" are completely different things...

I won't lie - I'm surprised at the fact you're old enough to own a car, and I'm still skeptical about accepting that as a fact.

The phone was perfectly cleaned and Jailbroken, no messages, no nothing? I assume it had a little note addressed to you personally on the homescreen?

So, at the same moment, the phone is both worthless and have some value? You must be the best banker in the world

Im not if I was, I would be on wall st, debating about your economical future, not MY iphone.

Im just curious, how does keeping a found iphone impacts your life?:eek

Ok so what do you suggest I do now.

Should I go back and turn it in to the bartender, should I give it to a homeless?, perhaps donate it to charity?, wait how about I mail it to you?, will this make you feel better?

As far as im concerned, the device its in my pocket so I OWN IT, wether you like it or not.

From your other thread:
I'm a banker and very proud of what I do, I have nothing to do with the current crisis. The people responsible for this can be foun on a well known street. I think you know what street this is. Also keep in mind all the billions of tax payer dollars that founded the "terrorrism war" right?

Let me get this straight -- you claim the people responsible for the economic mess in the US are on Wall St., yet you admit they are better at your job than you are. Not only that, you imply that the apex of your industry is responsibility for causing the economic downturn in the country?

I'll end with noting that there is a very distinct difference between "teller" and "banker".

 MY economical future? Mine is fine. I can afford to pay for anything I want, including  an iPhone 4 ;)

What does impact me is the amusement of you going gaga over a phone you found on a toilet seat...in a men's bathroom...at a bar...and you're so head over heels into it that you even inlcuded your "found" phone in your sig.

I guess not all professions carry the same level of class and dignity as others.

And I'M just curious, you have told all your banker buddies about your find...haven't you? I'm sure they'll be just as enthused about your find as you seem to be.

I'll end with noting that there is a very distinct difference between "teller" and "banker".

You forgot "change counter" which is what I think he's referring to as his "banker" job.

Should I go back and turn it in to the bartender
Bit late now, but that's what you should have done yes.

should I give it to a homeless?
Generous, but no.

perhaps donate it to charity?
Ah, it's against the law to give stolen goods.

wait how about I mail it to you?, will this make you feel better?
No thank-you. Besides the fact I have an iPhone 4, I don't want to take stolen property off your hands. That puts me right in it too.

As far as im concerned, the device its in my pocket so I OWN IT, wether you like it or not.
Potentially one of the most stupid statements I have ever read - I'm not just exaggerating.

You know what else is in someone's pocket? Keys to your Audi.

:D Perfect! But my money is on the Audi never existing.

This is my last post on this whole theft topic -- it's pretty clear iLover feels justified and there's nothing else anyone can say or do to change his/her mind. If they don't feel at all bad for "finding and keeping" the phone, they've dealt with more than enough people pointing out that what they did was at least legally theft.

I would applaud them for taking a stand against cracked apps, even if it does seem a small gesture to anyone who sees the way in which they came about their iPhone as theft. Whether it is right or wrong, nothing we say is going to change the fact that iLover has that phone that he/she found in a bar and plans to keep it. At least we know he/she's not stealing software from developers, and encouraging others not to as well. I think we can all agree that's at least the right thing to be doing.

Partly true, but stealing an iPhone does not give iLover a free license to use iOS; he/she has therefore stolen a copy of the iOS software.

how did you come to the conclusion that your a4 was stolen? maybe he found it on the street sitting there undriven. no keys in there, no owner, maybe clean - probably was getting ready to be sold. hey why not put it to good use in his garage.
