Genuinely curious then...why is the S7 better than the S6? It looks about the same to me.

Micro SD card slot for starters. A lot of Android users complained they took it out of the 6. Plus the 7 goes back to using Qualcomm cpu's vs Samsung exynos cpu which in my experience with the Samsung galaxy tab s 10.5 and Samsung phones I prefer the Qualcomm cpu's

S7 has SD card, bigger battery by a lot (edge has a HUGE battery), water resistance IP 68, new design that's easier to hold, better camera (faster, better in low light), new OS (marshmallow) that offers lots of benefits. that's a few differences vs the S6

If you're a huge photography geek why are you using a smartphone period? They all Suck compared to DSLR's. That being said the s7 while will be a good one it doesn't make the 6 or 6s have a bad camera. I actually love the iPhone camera app over Samsung ones based on my last Samsung phone the note 4

Because the best camera is the one I have with me at all times i.e. my phone. I have a (not super expensive) bridge camera but hardly ever use it, because my phone is much more convenient to carry around. The less I have to carry around the better :)

If your sole purpose to get the best possible photo than a camera phone will disappoint you no matter what. The iPhone 6S Plus camera will look just as "Bad" as an Samsung galaxy S7 .... Simply put the lens that they use can only be so big for a phone. While I want a good photo relative to a camera phone I am not going to buy a phone sole based on the camera. I think Samsung has done a better job with the cameras with their devices when I compare it to the Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus but the iPhone 6 Plus camera is good enough that it doesn't matter. I am using my phone more with the screen and as a phone so it could have the best camera on the planet but if it can't take phone calls and can't function like a smartphone does it matter? As I said the iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S7 cameras aren't bad and the S7 is "smoking better" than the iPhone 6S camera.

Hey All,

After much consideration i'm saying goodbye to iPhone 6S Plus and hello to Galaxy S7 Edge. Working in technology I think Apple has just been surpassed and is failing to innovate and make smart decisions. The whole "The only thing that has changed is everything" marketing was quite frankly, a joke..

Everytime I go into the Apple store and see people paying $29.99 for what should be a $9.99 cable it just makes me sick. I'm just tired of the whole deal that is Apple. Anyone else feel this way? Not saying they make bad products at all..

I'm certainly going to miss iMessages but that's about it. I'll be gaining a phone that is much more ergonomic, has a better screen, larger battery, better camera, external storage, wireless charging, etc..

I don't know your experience with phones in general but Android phones are great on paper and always have some lure to me. But once I get an Android device in my hand it always falls short and I go back to an iPhone.

I find it hilarious that you've specifically noted pricing of accessories as making you sick. Then you state you're going to a Samsung device.

Samsung devices and accessories are no cheaper than iPhones. Go look at their website for cell phone accessories.

With Samsung you have to wait for updates and you have to deal with TouchWiz slowing down. If you don't mind those, then you'll be fine. And trust me if you use iMessage heavily like I do, there's no good alternative on Android.

I'm not sure if you care about privacy or security but considering not even the FBI can get into an iPhone, I'd say Apple is doing something right. Also they just recently hired a developer from Signal, so they're taking security and encryption very seriously right now.

OP, as much as I like Android more than iOS, I don't get why people have to create a thread on either platform to let everyone know they are switching. 3000mah on Android isn't huge considering how much ******** they are at battery management. Doze on MM doesn't work unless the phone is sitting still. No use if it's in your pocket.

The only thing i find desirable from the galaxy series are the better screen and the 5.1 size of the non edge models. The new s7 may be more powerful on paper, but we'll have to see how it does compares against the 6s in a day to day use. I dont find the galaxy cameras that much better over the iphones either. A great phone it may be, but then i remember it has android...

True, I'll probably put the photos on my laptop and be disappointed with the results just like every phone I've ever had before! I must tame my expectations :)

I wish all Android manufacturers copied Sony's Stamina Mode, which acts like Doze except it also works in your pocket too. My iPad has great standby battery life.

Yeah Stamina mode is awesome. But didn't Sony reduce the battery capacity on the Z3+ or the Z5 from what it was on the Z2 and Z3?
Sony just needs to gain some traction. Even though they run a lightly skinned Android UI, their icons look very outdated!

I currently have Z5 Compact (hence why I was very interested in iPhone 5SE). It actually has slightly larger battery than Z3 Compact. But yeah, the regular sized Z5 had a smaller battery than Z3 and Z2.

I really like lots of things about iOS, very low standby battery drain being one of them.

That's because background app refresh doesn't work like it does on Android.
Almost nothing runs in the background in iOS so no significant cpu cycles are being used for third party apps.

This is funny.

The average iPhone user who is not the user you find on these forums, or any forum for that matter, buys the iPhone because of iOS.

Your complaints are solely technological. I find nothing in there that mentions any issues you may have with iOS. Because of your profession I get why you care, but I assure you that most of Apple's customers only care about iOS.

So, the reason(s) you're leaving for Android won't threaten Apple's profits or change it's approach in any measurable way.

Enjoy Android.

PS. It's not a discussion when you've already arrived at a conclusion that allows for no disagreement.

I just came back to iOS after 3 months of using Android on my Nexus 6. For as great the hardware and features of the phone are, it just isn't as good as iOS and the iPhone. iOS is far more reliable and consistent. Android had all sorts of issues for me, both software and the hardware of the Nexus 6. Software wise, I find Material Design much more appealing, but it has huge issues. I had a problem with some unknown Wi-Fi issue. Whenever I would connect to a specific network, the phone would heat up to an extreme temp (110 degrees sometimes) and would then lag to the point of it being unusable. It required that I restarted the phone to fix the problem temporarily, but then I had to flash the factory images again after that. The burn-in on the display got very annoying over time, to the point where I couldn't watch a video or view a picture without being annoyed because the nav bar was so burned in and distracting.

iOS and the integration into the Apple ecosystem is why I'll stay on iOS for a long time, if not forever. All of my Apple devices seamlessly and cohesively integrate with each other and "just work." issues rarely, if ever, arise when using Apple products in my experience.

Good luck with Android though, everyone has their own preferences. Maybe you'll like Android better! I still love Android, but it's just not what is best for my needs, at least at the moment.

Samsung S6 and S7 difference..

Always on screen. Notifications, date, time and a personalized screen will always be shown using minimal power.

SD slot

Water resistant

Better camera. 12 mp f/1.7 Rear and 5 mp f/1.7 front camera

Larger battery. 3,000 mAh battery for S7 and 3,600 mAh battery for the Edge

Autofocus on the Galaxy S7 & Edge is faster

#5 is not going to make a difference. TouchJizz isn't known for conserving battery!

If Android is so bad, why ladies and gentlemen are there more Androids sold over iOS.

Break it down by manufacturers and see who has the bigger piece of the pie. Samsung might but their profits on lower end devices are tiny.
So if you go by profits, it is Apple and if you go by market share, it is Android divided into x amount of manufacturers.

Here we go again. Not every android handset is a flagship handset. And we all know Apple cleans up in terms of profits in this arena.
Here we go again!
So who said anything about profits? Who said sales only count if it is a flagship phone? Sales are sales.
