Hmm, we will see. I emailed the dev.
When i emailed before he responded asap. Now it has been a couple days.

I bet hes bitching at activator for it. just wait.

Hey thanks very much for emailing him, maybe you can ask him to read this thread for more information, unless of ofcourse you have him a good detail of things :) its much appreciated since I didn't even know who he was and how to get a hold of him.

After trying this, yes, it flashes briefly if I press the sleep/wake button twice in swift succession; however, it then returns to the lock screen without my pressing the button again. I have to say, though, that I have never experienced this in normal usage and don't see it as a problem.

Also, you are aware, right, that SBSettings and Activator are not two names for the sane app? The Activator library is a dependency of SBSettings, but they are two separate apps.

Yea sorry I realized the difference after a while. little after creating this thread. it makes sense now, but yea activator is definitely the problem. i can install it, my lock gets screwed, i can uninstall it and it works again. This is a deal breaker to me, I hate things not running as smooth as they were before. Why do you think we all love iOS so much, or else I would have gotten an ANDROID hehe. Up to this point, the phone feels like I never jailbroke it, it runs fast, its smooth and clean, I really can't stand that glitch.

I do,
If it is activators fault, then he must be mad at them because everybody thinks its lockinfo.

I really hope he takes action. It would be much appreciated on his side. I hope he sees this thread to get an idea of whats happening. Maybe he knows already and told the activator developer about it, that would be cool :)

The odd behaviors are coming from Activator... I've noticed several times when in a call or facetime, the battery icon gets moved from the right side of the status bar to the left, jumbling with the signal icon. Doesn't affect functionality, just looks tacky. When the call ends it goes back to normal.

I'm not sure why activator is forced on us with SB Settings this time... wish it was an optional add\remove option :-(

yea its definitely activator, it just doesnt feel right, a deal breaker to me.

CLEARLY you've never had a JB'd iphone before this one, because SB Settings has never had an "Activator App" integrated with the settings. The SB Settings app in itself put the swipe in the top bar... and has done that for ages... the "Activator" is a secondary app outside of the SB Settings. But whatever I'm done arguing with you.

Lol you CLEARLY didn't check your settings before writting this. Activator comes with SBSettings, and has been for a while.

Thanks to All,
AE

My thoughts were that the lock button oddness came from activator waiting to see if there was a 2nd press in quick succession because a double press of the lock button is one of the actions it monitors. If you pause just a second before any second press of the lock button it's 100% correct and responsive for me. I never have to press it twice in a row that quick for any real reason.

As for the flashing, I get that the first time after I restart springboard, almost like lockscreen has to load. Once its loaded the first time and I havent restarted springboard (which I am doing less and less now that I'm not installing stuff) it never flashes.

i got a problem with battery time since i installed sbs settings aswell. donno if its just the jailbreak or not. gonne uninstall and ill report back

Hi

Yes your thought is correct and I had already thought of that. I thought i had a double tap on my power button somewhere on my settings but I never found anything. Also yes if you wait a second or 2, the response is fine. I sometimes have to turn my screen on do something turn my screen off and immediately realize i forgot to do something and turn it back on. Usually as I turn my screen off the first time, i'm already realizing i forgot something and try to turn it on again. See I can't live with it knowing that the normal version had no issues. there is got to be an explanation/fix to this.

Oh and yes the flash happens only after a respring as well. Still annoying you, but thats my personal problem really. just wanted to know what the problem is and if there is a fix to it. I would love to install lockinfo right now but i can't

Thanks
AE

same problem, thanks for revealing the cause! The thing I first noticed was that the lock sound was delayed after pressing the button, and I was annoyed that my ip4 was being less responsive than my ip3g.

Anyway, uninstalled. I refuse to compromise the performance of my phone for JB apps.

Anyone know if it's possible to get the old version of sbsettings w/o activator?

The explanation isnt that you do or dont have something assigned to it, it's that activator has to watch for a double press, that means it intercepts the double press as a single action, not 2 actions and then in a case where nothing is assigned to the action doesn't apply any response, but it also means that the OS isn't going to get the quick double press as 2 presses.

It would be nice to have activator have a setting to ignore anything that isn't assigned, then it wouldn't have this hook out waiting for the double press.

Hi

It's a good point any gesture that doesn't have anything assigned to it should be ignored.

Thanks

Why not just use the home button to wake up? You really can't expect a hacked version of the phone will run as smooth as a non-hacked version, especially when it's free. This issue is such a minor annoyance and I think usefulness of activator is well worth the issue. I never knew you can assign your own since activator wasn't available when I jailbroke a while back and now I can turn off device by swiping up.

It doesnt happen if you unlock with the home button(Idk if this has been posted yet)

So i assume when you double tap the top it looks for a command and doesnt find one, then loads?

Edit: So yeah I have just been using home button to unlock. Its no biggie for me until this is fixed.

I dont think its a good idea to use an old version. I think maybe if we had their contact information, we can email the people who developed the activator and ask them to address this issue.

Thanks

Yea you are both right, the home buttton works fine. I was talking about the power button though. I'll just wait for a fix, i thought that if I mentioned it, the developers would actual be aware of this glitch and fix it. I mean, if they can fix it and its not a hassle, please do.

Thanks

Wow my title is terrible.
Whatever it explains it and he will read it

Yea I think it will work. I'm guessing if you voted for mine which is # 70, we could accomplish more. Because its based on votes and comments that they set their priority.

Thanks

im new to jbing ...i noticed this issue too and was wondering if it is possible to have sbsettings but no activator? i have never found a use for activator.:D

I found a workaround!

Aelalfy, you said this annoys you because if you put your phone into sleep mode, then immediatley realize you have something else to do, when you push "sleep" the second time, the lock screen flashes, then comes back on (sometimes it may not).

You wish to be able to slide to unlock IMMEDIATELY after locking, without any kind of delay.

Heres your temporary solution....:D.....go to "Settings" app. Then go to "Activator" then set "double press Sleep Button" to Lock/Unlock.

Now when you are done using the phone, hit the sleep button. If you immediately need to re-enter the phone, simply double click the sleep button, therefore giving you 3 presses of the sleep button total. It will immediately take you back to the homescreen.

UNFORTUNATELY, the delay is still present, so from the Homescreen, you hit "Sleep" 1 time to go to sleep. You must WAIT a 1/2 second or so, then double click "sleep button", in order to get back to the homescreen flawlessly. I know this isn't perfect, but since you get to skip the "slide to unlock", you can get back to the home screen FASTER than you could before Jailbreak.

We still need a software fix that ignores gestures unless they are programmed through activator, but I've been having the same issues as you and I'd rather do it this way then to lose SBSettings altogether (NOT gonna happen ;))

If you have an Iphone 4, use activator with "springflash"

I swipe Right on status bar for SBSettings, and I swipe Left for Flashlight.
