It did on the 2G, and making it like that for the iPhone 4 causes the battery to drain because it doesnt turn the phone "off," it instead makes the phone keep searching for a signal. (mine says "Searching...", never "No Service")

But its disappointing to here that there wont even be a solution to that I guess.

Who told you it causes battery drain? That's ridiculous. It doesn't. It's the same as it was minus the airplane symbol.
I have written a quick post to help clarify this situation since so many people are so confused by it:

I suspect the airplane mode actually does the same thing and just hides the status with an airplane symbol.

Thank you for your inputs?

Can you please fix the above code and see if we can create this toggle? (exact same behavior that Settings-> Airplane Mode)

It will be really helpful.

It drains mine because it doesn't kill the phone, mine still searches.

Did you read the blog entry?????????

S-

Did you see my post! I said "Create the same behavior". As BigBoss mentioned "Phone" toggle is not "Airplane" toggle and I need Airplane toggle and I expect it to behave the same way the Settings Airplane switch works.

I was a big fan of the "phone" toggle too to keep WiFi on at home, unfortunately since upgrading to 4.2.1 last night, I've lost the use of many toggles in SBSsettings including the "Phone" toggle (only 3G, Airplane, AutoLock, Bluetooth, Data, Location, Wi-Fi are working it seems), I found someone else mentioning that but others reporting success. I'm confused...
