If you're scared of your watch getting scratched then buy one of those cases on Amazon for about $20. They look tacky imo but they'll definitely protect against scratches.
Here's a case I found with about 30 seconds of searching on Amazon.

I agree with getting a case if you're worried about damage to your watch. Apple also sells an OtterBox one that seems to fit the watch nicely.

I hardly wear my Apple Watch because I’m scared of getting it scratched or getting it greasy. It’s kind of ruined my experience with the Apple Watch as I simply cannot bring myself to wearing/using it.

is anyone else the same?
Buy AppleCare+ for it. Let it scratch. Pay and get it replaced when it is too scratched or bothers you. Or just wear it and use it like a normal thing.

I would never use a case for any watch, think it looks hideous, but to each its own

Solution: Buy a second hand one with minor scuffs. I got a 4 for £200, because it has a small knick in the corner. Less cost, and you care less about keeping it perfect once you have a little bit of damage.

No of course not. What a waste. Sell it and move on.

Or preferably, change your priorities and realise it’s just a bloody watch and who cares if it gets a scratch or ten...it really doesn’t matter!

You’re missing out on an incredible piece of tech for misplaced OCD.

Just enjoy it
I got my app watch SE gold 8 months ago, and last weak my hand hitted the radiator, uuuh i checked watch and saw scratch over that button now i cannt even wear it 😖😖😖😖 i cant look at it 😫😫😫😫

That isn't really noticeable unless you are up close and looking for any problems. I understand your feeling though, as it would bother me as well.

You could...

1) Buy the new Apple Watch in September and start over with a watch with no blemishes
2) Put a screen protector on the watch to try and prevent more accidental damage. I use the following protector for my series 6 at work and it works well.

If you want to keep it in great condition you can have a look at some of the cheap film screen protectors on AliExpress or Amazon. The are invisible and give you a little extra protection. But yeah, you should just wear it and and enjoy it.

If you don't want scratches, don't buy the aluminum Apple Watch. Simple, almost...

Aluminum is a light metal, and will scratch, and actually dent. Heck, I dented my stainless Apple Watch, and am convinced that if I had the aluminum body AW, I'd have been looking for a replacement, or trying to get Apple Care to fix it. I am rough on my toys. I have broken Heuer watches and a Citizen watch too. Things break. If you can afford the better watch, get it. It really is that much more durable, but durability does have a limit, and people have destroyed the steel Apple Watches too.

There are 'cases' for Apple Watches that claim to protect them too.

Nothing lasts forever. Researchers even doubt that forever does...

EDIT: Added link to a 'protector' from the Amazon Jungle...

Yea just like a car it’ll get a scratch at some point and it is painful when that happens, but you learn to love it even when it gets beat up

Yeah, a week after I bought my last car, I got a big scratch on the diver's door. OMG!!! I was so pissed. OMG!!! I steamed about it for nearly a week.

Then, I saw the dent above the window on that door. I had parked at a golf course for a lunch meeting. Yeah, however hit that ball had some spice on it. It left, easily, a quarter inch dent in the top of the actual door, missing the window by about an inch and a half.

Hah! That scratch sure didn't look so big. I'm still amazed that it's totally centered on the door top, and missed that window. It's pretty amazing, the placement. Kudos...

And, heck, this body has scars, and scratches, and all... Crows feet? IF you live a good life, you laugh, you love, you celebrate, you grieve, you get them. Celebrate life, protect what you value, realize that things are after all just THINGS, and love the PEOPLE and pets in your life. It doesn't make it easier all the time, but it's what seems to work for me. *shrug*

Cheers!

I own an aluminium AW and have always been really lucky in terms of scratches and dents. I have got a minor dent in the crown of my current watch but it doesn’t bother me at all as you really have to look hard for it. I’ve never scratched a screen in 4.5 years of wearing an AW as previously I wore more expensive mechanicals and seemed to adapt to not putting my wrists near blunt objects which was almost like an instinct lol.

I couldn’t justify the Stainless AW even though it’s affordable. For me these devices have such a short life and the aluminium is good enough and at the top end of what I want to pay. I have invested in a case for it though after a recent experience. A colleague of mine was trying to undo a rusty M16 nyloc nut on our test rig at work. When it finally undid, his entire force flung his wrist into an I-Beam supporting the main framework of the rig. A series 5 stainless Apple Watch was left with a shattered sapphire screen and a significant dent in the casing. Not even worth getting repaired sadly. He was gutted. I’ve purchased the OtterBox case off the Apple website and now put this on when I know I’m going to be doing any work with testing which is less common these days as I’m mostly office based.

I ruined my senior class ring (always a questionable purchase) and the 'warranty' only covered it until I actually graduated, or something. Yeah, it was good for a week?

The stainless Apple Watches have been good to me, plus they have a higher resale value, and trade-in value as well. It's not a huge difference, but it helps. I've scratched the crystal on Apple Watches I've owned. I don't know if the crystal would have been cracked, but I just take my history, and get the SS Apple Watch. However, I skip year(s) between purchases. Yeah, I can't defend the idea of having to line up and buy the new hotness. I'm pushing an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and it's a hand-me-down. Likely the last new hotness thing I've bought, and will likely buy from Apple was the iPad Pro 12.9, with a blown pixel. Oh, and traded in my butterfly keyboard disaster for a lagging MBP.

But I still own a wide variety of awesome watches, traditional, and exotic. I never expected to like the Apple Watch, but I'm hooked. I'm just not 'orthodox' about it I guess...

Now if you're wearing a $5K+ watch then i'd be more inclined to say yeah be careful with it. Granted AW isn't a $10 Casio, but it's still considered kind of a consumable grade watch. Especially since it's finite design given the tech behind it. And that's basically any smart watch. The more expensive version, Hermes even that. Because that you're just paying for some upscale parts like the wrist band and branding accoutrements.

Everything is expendable.

Prior to the Apple Watch, I had 'dress watches' that I only wore with fine clothes, adult clothes, and going out to 'fine places'. The Apple Watch, I view as an everyday device. It's meant to be an everyday device. I beat the heck out of 'everyday devices'. I'm surprised I've only had a dent and a fine scratch. To me, the Apple Watch has been surprisingly durable. The only time I've been 'afraid' of using it in a situation was snorkeling. I wasn't going very deep, but didn't want to flood it. It was fine...

Things to avoid, from my past history: rough brick walls. Really bad things happen to rings and watches around those things. Concrete in general isn't a good thing, but the rough surface bricks are death to almost anything on wrists, hands, and fingers. Ceramic tiled floors are death to watches if you drop them the wrong way onto them. (This one cost me a bunch of money to fix a watch that was dropped fro about 2 feet) Crashing on a bike onto asphalt isn't good either, for your skin, or any accoutrements. and accessories.
