Install the skin on a solid surface and away from a dusty environment, as well as a bright light condition to check for bubbles. Make sure you apply a lot of solution so you can slide the skin to the position you want it to. If you have the palm rest skin than I would advise you to be as CAREFUL as possible because if it gets into the speaker grills, keyboard, and ESPECIALLY the trackpad, your not gonna be happy with the results. Also, if you have a trackpad protector skin you should NOT install it, through two personal experiences I had the solution pass through the edges of the trackpad and it caused a loose clicking sound, which I exchanged both and will never do it again. In addition, always have a towel near by to wipe the edges and leftover solution right away so it doesn't get into the system.

You made Apple cover the cost of 2 laptops because you screwed up while applying a skin?? Pathetic...no wonder return programs are so strict/non-existant...

water damage?! water sensors?!
Now I am even more afraid to apply the wrapsol!

I'm in your boat, too

I wish Wrapsol would release an in-depth guide on applying these for the rMBP

For some reason I feel like we're over-thinking this, though......

I used the 3M film to apply a skin to the bottom and top of my rMBP. It is not a wet skin application.

See http://www.icarbons.com/collections...ucts/macbook-pro-15-retina-black-carbon-fiber

They have other colors, styles, and installation videos. They are easy to apply.

I really like it, I just feel like I'd get tired of it really quickly :(

Has anybody applied a full body Wrapsol successfully on the rMBP?

Could somebody post about application for the palm guard, back, fro... you know just everything really :D (I saw some posts earlier in this thread, but like REALLY detail-oriented). I'm super nervous about the speakers/ trackpad and the ventilation ports on the bottom.

I consider the skin temporary until I find something I like better. I am waiting for Moshi to start shipping iGlaze for the rMBP. They said it would be next month.

I have decided to hold off on the wrapsol for now. A lot of people have said that they installed it and it's great, but what if the water sensors were damaged but the computer still works? $300 AppleCare warranty gone to waste... lol...

I might just get a moshi palm guard when it comes out.

@Thors.Hammer: How easy was it to apply the iCarbons? Since it is not a wet application, how do you get it to align well?

Thanks for posting a link to the video-- not sure how I missed that :0

Man, I'm still nervous-- I just don't know if it's worth getting all that stuff near the ports

I have a best skins ever on my rmbp, same thing as wrapsol etc etc, same application process.

Not sure one the others, but the best skins have side protectors to!

It's really easy. Watch the video at the iCarbons website for the top and bottom instructions. In essence you peal off the wax paper, then re-apply it to the skin leaving a small portion of the sticky side uncovered. That way you can focus on the initial edge.

I hate applying wet skins because I suck at it, but I am really happy with the iCarbon skins I bought.

Out of curiosity, when you remove the iCarbon skin, does it leave any residue behind?

Do the icarbons have a textured feel similar to the bare brushed aluminum that a bare mbp has or is it "sticky"/"grippy" feeling like that orange peel effect? Or is the icarbon completely smooth like a glass feeling with no texture?

Hey guys,

I ended up purchasing one of these:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/H...acCompatibility=15inchmacbookproretinadisplay

It should come in the mail sometime within the next 2-3 days.

I will stay away from any wet-application covers and possibly get a moshi palmguard or iCarbons skin in the near future. But I think I/we are just extra paranoid about the rMBP because it is a bit more expensive than the past MBP's. When I look at my past MBP's, I do not notice any cosmetic damage on the outside of the computer--only a few little blemishes at the palmrest area.

Just something you should keep in mind if you have not noticed it already. haha.

Still haven't decided quite yet for me, although I have a little while until it arrives... I know I'm being extra paranoid lol.

I like the idea of not making your laptop wet to apply a skin. My question is, How easy is it to remove again (without having residue and glue left)?

I just want to use this film on the bottom on times when I have to travel a lot.

EDIT: Sorry, WindWaker just asked the same thing, Didn't read good enough :D

Thanks

I thought the Aluminium design acted as a heatsink and aided cooling. Are these Wrapsol's not bad to the laptop in any way?
