I have an old Afga 35mm twin lense reflex that I'd consider taking. Since it is a twin lense, I still fit the criteria with 2 lenses... :)

It's smallish and light. No batteries are needed. I'd buy film as I needed it, and would have it developed locally and shipped back home.

I would concentrate on street photography, not much wildlife since the lense is short. Its a very quiet camera (no mirror) with a fast lense, so I could do lots of interior shots.

I would also often hang it from the neck strap and shoot incognito. On the street, no one would hear it.

Hopefully, I have access to a teleconverter. I like landscape and wildlife the most. I figure I can photograph people with both lenses, saying I'm being very creative. Since I would be a foreigner, street photography with a 14mm would be fun. Cool thread by the way!

I'd have to go with the 1DX. It's looking like a great all-round workhorse that is tough enough for serious travel and has a small edge on the Nikon D4. I'd love to say medium format but not even the Leica S2 offers enough versatility really. They are optimised for controlled lighting situations rather than all-round shooting.

24 or 35 mm at the short end from an weatherproofed L lens hits the mark. I think I'd opt for the 24 to be sure I made the best of the landscapes.

The long lens for Canon is a harder decision. The 85 1.2 is a wonderful lens but very slow focusing. The 135 f2 is one of my favourite lenses but it's not weather sealed and is a bit soft when focusing on long distances (although super-sharp on closer subjects). The 200mm f2.8L may also be worth considering but this would be a bit long for a two lens kit.

In reality a couple of good zooms (24-70 and 70-200) would be a far wiser choice.

1D X looks solid....just need to see it tested with time but no doubt it'll be great. I feel like the 1D series is the best choice because I could damn near throw it at a rock and it'd be fine!

As for zooms....the point of the thread is about a challenge (or constraint if you will!)...not "ideal". No zooms :p

14mm! Woah! I like that haha. Those are two Extreme lenses though! How pancake like is the 14mm? I love me a compact discrete lens...zooms always attract attention.
