I have had this lock for a few months now and loved it right until tvOS10 and iOS10 came out. Now nothing works like it did. I still have the separate codes for separate individuals and the scheduled access for my cleaner works great. But the app on my phone no longer connects to the lock unless I physically go over to the lock and touch it (manually locking/unlocking it from inside the house, or touching the 'Schlage' button on the outside). My Apple TV is set to never go to sleep. My home wifi is great. I've installed the new firmware on the lock. But I can no longer remotely control the lock or access its history.
In addition, and I'm sure this is related, in my Apple TV the HomeKit login is no longer shown in iCloud settings.
Someone else wrote about the other problem I've been having: automation doesn't work. On iOS 9 I had the Elgato Eve app setup to automatically unlock my house according to a geofence. That was great. Then under iOS10 it stopped working automatically and I was getting a notification which I had to manually confirm. Now with the tvOS release I have no automation at all.

Ack! I just upgraded my firmware and my remote use is now dead too. Like you, the keypads work but the app is disconnected. I've held off on "re-pairing" in hopes that an update is coming soon that will fix it.

So the hardware reset fixed your automation issues? More info please. Thanks.

Yeah, if you go through your Schlage manual, there's a section about doing a hardware re-set, I think it involves simultaneously pressing both inside and outside buttons. This resets everything to a factory state. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and basically set it up as a brand new lock. That solved the problems for me. No guarantee it will fix yours but feel free to give it a shot. I did the same with my Phillips Hue bridge as well. I think the apps had some leftover "gunk" from iOS 9, which are eradicated through a hardware reset.

Thanks! This is very helpful. Just to clarify, are you able to get automation to work automatically or does it still ask you if you want to run the automation? Thanks, again...

Not sure what you mean by this. I have this lock and the keypad works perfectly. I have tried several smart locks and this one is the best by far. The Kwikset Kevo is the most unreliable of the bunch, and a complete piece of trash. The August has a pretty neat auto-unlock feature that is supposed to unlock it when you get close, but it's very flakey. This one is the most flexible, as you can use either a key, a code, the app, Siri, and even auto unlocking when you arrive home via Homekit. Also a good sign that they updated their firmware to support Home so quickly after the iOS 10 release.

Have you tried, or heard anything, about Kevo v2? I just got one, but am thinking I should maybe get this Schlage instead. I really wanted it to work with my Apple Watch, but apparently Kevo doesn't unlock with the Watch.

It's because the Kevo doesn't support Homekit. There's absolutely no reason to spend that kind of money on a smart lock in 2016 that doesn't support Homekit if you are an iOS user. Exchange it for the Schlage :)

I got everything to work.

I had the same issue. I ended up doing a hardware reset, now it works great. Give it a try.
I also did a factory reset of the lock last night (before reading your reply) and the remote access now works flawlessly. However the automation still requires my active participation which somewhat defeats the purpose.

Your lock automatically unlocks when you approach it - without prompting you with a question?

Yes, I'm also not seeing automation work automatically. It still requires me to activate it, which is silly and, as you said, defeats the purpose of "automating" the process.

Oh, it has a proximity based unlock? I generally don't do that, I still prefer to unlock it with my key most of the time. I mostly use the app to check if I actually locked my door, which I have a habit of forgetting.

why a touchpad though? I would put real buttons so that when batteries run out you can still access your door or something.

That's the point of still having a keyhole. I still carry my key around in case I need it, but I generally don't. The bolt is motorized both when using the keypad and when using homekit/remote/automation. It has a manual backup via both the key and via the inside manual dial.

Mechanical keys like you describe wouldn't allow you to also enable programatic use of the keypad (say, enabling an individualized code for the cleaning lady or a contractor that expires after so long). The mechanical code has to be manually set and changed at the lock.

Schlage specifically used the type of touchpad that they use on the Sense locks for a particular reason. To prevent being able to guess the code when the keypad buttons wear down over time, and shows what keys are being pressed. The touchpad is also fingerprint resistant for the same reason. I had the non-Homekit compatible version of the lock before this one and battery life is amazing. Over a year, and the lock warns you well in advance that the battery is getting low.

Too bad there is no way to hard wire it, so you never have to worry about batteries again! ;)

To be fair though, the batteries on the Sense last a really long time. When I had the August (v1), I was changing those suckers every month.

Are you only noticing this with the Sense lock, or any automation actions? One thing I've noticed is that the Home app can be very temperamental with automation. I couldn't even get it to turn my lights on/off based on location even though I set that up. Accidentally deleting my entire Homekit configuration and redoing it fixed things...although my ecobee still randomly stops communicating with Homekit on its own.

The only Homekit compatible device that I have is the Sense lock. It has been very unreliable (failed to access the lock remotely on at least 2 occasions when I needed to let someone in), especially in comparison to the previous gen Schlage lock, Connect, without Homekit. I was always able to access the Connect lock remotely once I set up the zwave connection.

Are you able to get automation to work with the Sense lock?

Yeah, battery life is one of the reasons I picked Schlage over August. One look at Augusts tiny little module and I knew it wasn't going to end well.

I have had rock solid remote access. I often unlock my doors in my car before I even get home. Are you on the latest versions of firmware? Do you have 2-factor authentication switched on and your HomeKit enabled? Remote won't work without the 2-FCtor for security reasons.

Yes, I'm on latest firmware. 2-factor authentication is on for my Apple ID and iPhone, and Homekit is enabled. Maybe it's just my lock is not as reliable. A lemon?
