Did I miss it? How did you scratch it or are you unsure?

I scratched mine and while it didn't look as bad as yours it must have just been in the top coating because it "healed". lol Literally the scratch is completely gone. I immediately ordered a cover.

Since I work with my hands I buy these cases as disposable...

Hard to tell but its scratched very badly. Few more weeks and I'll toss it and put on a new one. I only use them at work though, snap on/off really quickly so when I get home I take it off and set it next to the charger. They hurt touch screen performance but with Siri and the button being a short cut to my favorite apps (not recent) I can work around it.

Definitely a good investment for the Ion-X Glass, as my experience was that it scratched quite easily. Although, I converted to the stainless with the sapphire.

Also, the scratch on your Sport model likely dissipated due it was minimal on the oleophobic coating, which is why You May not see it, unless under certain lighting or it completely faded.

I'll likely get the SS model with sapphire glass when the time comes to upgrade. This is my first Apple Watch and I've been very pleased with it. But initially I didn't want to break the bank not knowing if I'd like it or not. The main reason I would go with SS though is because there seems to be a lot more band options that match.

And you could be right but I prefer to think nanobots came out of the microphone ports and repaired it. I could easily show it to other people and I remember a guy I work with telling me how he would have to replace it because it would bother him too much and I was considering paying AppleCare+ fee for repair/replace.

However I just took this.

I literally can’t tell you how many times I have posted in the Apple Watch forum how much I appreciate the Sapphire display for the stainless model. The weight to the stainless is nice and it gives it more of a ‘Watch like feel’ if you will, but I’m also somebody that’s annoyed by scratches, especially on a display of a size of a 42 mm screen. And I’m also not want to use screen protectors. That’s why I opted for the Sapphire display and it really is everything everybody says it is.

As for the scratch on your Apple Watch sport model, I don’t see anything at all, so it’s definitely gone. Seems most who have scratches of some sort, either are slightly faded or they end up seeing it under certain lighting.

‘Nearly impossible’ is a good way to describe the sapphire. Although sapphire is not impervious to damage, I can tell you personally after wearing my Apple Watch and hitting it on various objects, it still looks new completely out of the box . When I did own the sport model when it first launched, it did scratch with very minor impact, granted I realize It was a hairline scratch (Which May have been on the oleophobic coating), I sold it the next day and upgraded to the stainless model with the Sapphire. The price difference was substantially higher at the time for $200 more, but the Watch pays for itself over the course of time.

I just put a long scratch on my SS 3. Hit it agains a corner of my granite counter top as i was walking by. Ive hit it before against other things and it never scratched. I even played volleyball at the beach and piled it into sand jamming the crown but again no scratches. Also had the ss1 and also no scratches. I can feel the groove when i run my nail against the scratch so not sure if this is a coating or i scratched the actual sapphire. I bought the watch in Dec and didn't buy any warranty. Should i even approach apple with this?

Being its cosmetic without Applecare, I think they will quote you a charge. However, There is nothing wrong with asking and seeing what options you have or they may offer. Otherwise, you could use a screen protector to hide scratch.
