Already ordered my Zagg Invisible Shield. Ugh. Should have picked UPS delivery. Need to put it on some napkins everywhere I go now.

we have no idea what actually scratched it or how it happened just that he 'didnt try to scratch it'.

Scratch Resistant != Scratchproof

/facepalm

Hmmm ... I wonder if these scratches might be from his drop test or throwing the phone across the room twice, hitting the wall, all of which he admitted to doing in his review.

But what about all those times I WANT to throw my phone across the room?

lol - Yeah, it seems like that should be mentioned when they talk about the scratches.

Is that a scratch or a "scuff"? And it's one thing to simply say "it has nasty scratches after only five days", it's another to um, sort of, QUALIFY that with HOW it got scratched?

I note there is no mention at all of the use and abuse it endured to acquire those during the five days.

To me this is no better than that ifixyouri shop smashing an empty iPhone shell and claiming "it breaks!!"

If you have a ring with a diamond in it, it will *GASP* scratch glass. I think this is probably what happened here, the reviewer has a big arse ring with stones in it and they scratched it while digging for it in their pocket.

Just get a case if you are so worried about it.

Marketing is strong for a reason: it works. There will be plenty of people who won't buy a case just because a) they want to show off they have an iPhone and how pretty it is and b) they actually think it won't get scratches because Steve said so.

Uh, maybe I think it won't get scratches because I've had my 3G for two years and I haven't gotten a scratch on the glass front yet.

But no...I'm sure "Steve told me" must be the real reason.

anyone want a bet my iphone4 will have zero scratches on it after 6months of heavy use?

take better care of your stuff.

What was their normal use? Did they try to see what it would take to scratch it?

Sigh... why do people do this? You are at a restaurant and you set your phone down at the table. WHY????

There are only a few places my phone is at during all times. In my hand during use, in my pocket or on the charger at home. With this... I have NEVER lost or misplaced my phone.

And there's the rub. Nonetheless, the line for FAB, First Adopters Bitching, begins here.

I have a Rolex with a synthetic sapphire crystal which costs as much as the no-contract iPhone, and I've scratched it or nicked its corner. Scratch resistance does not equal scratch-proof... unless you have a diamond-coated surface.

But again... let the people who willingly chose to be first adopters start whining. I might just wait to see if there's any actual manufacturing issues or not before I go and plop $200 on another iPhone.

Oh, I do it at work too. Well that's how I've always do it before I get a case or something like that. My friend span (spin?) his 3G on the table when he first got it. I gasped in horror.

Now my 3g is so damaged and cracked, but not as bad as his. (missing volume rocker haha)

It's hard to prove that that case is made of the same material as the iPhone 4. There is a capacity marked on the back suggesting that it is an earlier prototype and perhaps not using the same glass.

Scratches?? This can't be true!! Legend says the iPhone 4 glass was made in the fires of Mount Doom...only there can it be unmade.
