exchange solved the problem

My exchanged MBP arrived early this week already, after intensive testing i can happily say: This one works like a charm. The Display stays the way it should, no blackouts on the 9400 anymore. :D

I´ve hooked up my external 42" Plasma witch runs on poor 1024x768 60Hz and also had no flickering or blackouts.

@mct74: after reading the thread starter´s 1st. post again (and again) i realized i was wrong. He also had an external Display hooked up, so i need to apologize to you. I hope you will find a solution for your problem as well in this thread.

cheers

So I got a new Late 08 MBP 2.8 earlier this week. Everything has been great except that occasionally (once or twice an hour) my laptop screen will go black for about 200-300ms and then come back. Often only the top 1/2 or top 3/4 of the screen will go black. (...CUT)

I have this EXACT PROBLEM, too. Exactly, the top half / top third of the screen goes black for like 300ms...

this has to be a firmware problem or an hardware problem, I'll take it to a technical support center in january after holidays....

with this thread and apple discussions threads printed.
