I roll the dice and don't use a screen protector. I tried it when I first got the phone and didn't like the feel or the look. Without the protector the I can look at the screen in all its glory and vibrant colors.

I'm caseless but definitely use a screen protector for the front and back...just don't want to scratch the glass.

The Powersupport Crystal film does not effect the retina display one bit but it's a fingerprint MAGNET.

The anti-glare doesn't attract fingerprints and while it protects from the lighting/sun glare, it does hinder the retina display slightly.

The first scratch you get, you'll wish you had it.

For me, when I owned an iPhone 3gs, I noticed the olephobic coating wearing off and that made the phone look like crap. So not only is it protecting the glass but I don't have to worry about the coating wearing off as well.

I also have a Power Support one (clear one) and it doesn't affect the retina display at all. I put it on because OCD kicks in once you get a scratch on the screen. You will start to notice it over and over again and will kick yourself for not putting one on.

Also think of it as an investment. If you sell your iPhone in the future you can get more for it with a pristine screen vs one that isn't.

I thought it was ok to not use one so I took it off. I woke up in the morning one day to my phone on the floor and a HUGE gash (deep enough to put your fingernail in) right in the middle of the screen. Thankfully I had my phone replaced due to an unrelated issue. Needless to say I went right home and put on protection front and back :)

This is the only reason why I use a screen protector.

I didn't use one on my 1st gen, and the glass was scratchless. I didn't use one on my 3GS, and the oleophobic coating started to wear off (even though I was practically accused of molesting the iPhone:p:rolleyes:), so I had to swap for a new one. It started to happen again, but I sold it before it got bad.

I didn't use one on my iP4 for the first few months, but then I noticed the coating wearing off. I swapped it for a new one at the Apple Store, slapped a screen protector on it, and haven't looked back.

I wish I didn't have to use one, but when the coating wears off, it's annoying.

Can some please describe what it looks like when the coating wears off?

Thanks.

I used one for about 5 months on my iPhone 4 and ditched it. I had completely forgotten how nice the actual screen feels. No scratches since I've been guard-less either. I have yet to even drop this phone.

There are a couple things I find amusing now about people in these forums who use screen protectors. One is that many of them claim that their screen protector feels "just like the actual glass." Silly.

I also think that a good majority of people who swear by screen protectors already take extremely delicate care of their phone to begin with, and most likely will never drop their phone.

Bottom line: enjoy your phone. To me its a lot more enjoyable without a plastic film on the screen.

PhoneDevil Clear every time for me.

I've got one on my iPhone 4 and my iPad and IMO they're the best quality screen protectors out there.

People don't believe there's a protector on there when I show them. :D

I used a PS on my 3GS for 6 months...then 6 months without. No scratches. IPhone 4 7 months without...now I have PS front and back. I like the phone naked, with a Sena Ultra Slim pouch...or just in my pocket with nothing.

The back screen relieves worries about scratches from laying on a table.

1. Every screen with reduce contrast/clarity a bit...just the nature of reflection physics. The anti -glare are the worse. Most people don't notice the Crystal Clear PS...until it gets old. I'd replace it every 4-6 months. Front/back is only $14.95

2. Never seen the apple oleophobic screen wear off. Shouldn't happen unless you do something stupid like clean it with Windex...that would do it.

3. A screen saver will save even the very robust Gorrilla screen. Only detracts a bit from the front screen. Back screen, who cares...looks clear. PS is the best...no orange peel.

4. I go naked with a front/back now..and the PS gives a bit of 'tackiness' that makes the phone less slippery. Some feel it gives a better 'tactile, or feel' to the virtual screen and makes typing easier, with less mistakes. But I found it wears out after 4-6 months and should be replace.

Bottom line is with the PS screen on , I enjoy the change to no screen. then 5 months later, I'm tried of babying the back screen. So at the very least, use a rear screen if you go naked.

Does take some practice to make a perfect fit I found.
