The blue 5c I played with had it :/

I could easily tell from the grey area of camera icon on iOS 7 and while taking a picture.

I like the feel of 5c though, ergonomically makes more sense than 5/5s

Wow both 5c's and the 5s had interlacing. That's terrible. At two different stores too

Here we go again. So I'm not sure if any of your wonderful peeps remember the issue the iPhone 5 suffered via the display. Scan lines which were thin vertical lines that some people noticed and some didn't. There was a huge thread on it here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1471037/. So I went to a tmobile store to potentially purchase one and had the luxury of seeing that 3 out of the 4 models on display had the issue. Then I went to the apple store and noticed only one or 2 had them. I'm confused , I mean I realize that the ew 5s is supposed to have the same panel as the 5 but you would think they would have hopefully corrected this issue maybe. Now don't get me wrong the display if gorgeous still it just feels as if it takes away from the true quality if the screen. Anyone else see this ? I had to go through 3 iPhone 5's to get one that didn't have the issue. The best way to see if you have eh issue is to use the picture below and set it as you wallpaper if your screen flickers like crazy you may have it if you do attempt this make sure to disable parallax it won't work if it's on

No flicker on my 5S.

My 5 had a weird issue where I'd see a pixelation effect whenever there was motion, either from my eyes or on screen. Not all 5's had it though. Not sure if this is the same issue or not.

I don't know what this is about. What I do know is, I hate looking at that image, it annoys me for some reason.

We'll I'm not trying to annoy you :). I'm just wanting to make sure this issue front affect the model because I really want one but I will not be going back and forth with apple to find one that doesn't do it. But again this is some thing that everyone notices

Maybe you wouldn't see lines if you didn't use that image as your wallpaper?

I'm thinking that if it's something I can't tell I have, unless I use that specific image, then I'm not likely to care.

I'm not referring to the image ! If you look through the thread u referred to it would bring a lot of what I'm saying into clarity

Is this the issue where when you especially look at a grey or blueish screen and if you move your eyes around you can see scanlines moving up and down the screen? If so this is the most annoying issue I have ever dealt with when it comes to mobile devices. I have had over a 100 phones and no matter what the model some have had this. Blackberries were notorious for this. I had it on one iPhone 3G and 1 4S. I just swapped them out and the replacements were ok most of the time. The problem is not everyone can see this issue. It was so bad on a friends iPhone once it made me nautios. He could not even see it. What I do now is if it happens is call Apple and have them send me a replacement and swap it out. If I take it to the genius bar they can't see it most of the time and think I'm crazy and wont swap. This was the first thing I looked for when I got my 5s. I though mine was perfect but discovered tonight my accelerometer and gyro are off about 4 degrees. Circuit board is not level with the case. I have one coming from att.com tomorrow I was going to refuse since I got mine at the att store yesterday. Ill return the lessor of the 2 but i will not tolerate any scan lines.

Other then that the 5S rocks and im very impressed.

It's because they're so new. Screens, like headphones, take awhile to kind of 'warm up' over the first few weeks of use. It's hard to explain. But give it a few weeks and the 'problem' just disappears. You're probably trading in your phones too fast.

I think some people's brains just run at a higher frames per second than others. Some people have a higher 'frequency' than others. Your brain probably runs at 2 gigahertz while your friend's brain runs at 1 gigahertz. I bet you kick his butt in Halo or Call of Duty as well.

How else do you explain some people being so much better at FPS games?

This sort of thing has zero to do with the age of the display and is an inherent quality of some panels.

Waiting it out will only get you at the mercy of a Genius Bar swap instead of a retail return/exchange situation.

64gb 5s grey verizon. tested with the wallpaper and no flicker what-so-ever.

Funny I did a thread like this and was called loco, when I told them I saw that 3-out of the 4 phones at tmobile had scan lines. I had to go through 3 phones with my iPhone 5 to get one that did not have the issue.

My god... what are you typing on or with?

lol

He's probably typing on an interlacing screen :p

People like to be in denial that iphone screens can have flaws so they call it a troll move

Too bad I'm not ifixit crafty, I have a feeling if I were to disassemble the affected panels, they'd all be LG (though probably not all LG"s do this but you never know) since I saw a similar thing happen on the Nexus 4's I played with.

^ I was talking about your claim 3 out of 4 and people calling BS.

In other words, I believe you :D

What I find crazy is the insane difference in quality from a screen with scan lines and one with out its like night and day to me my new iphone 5 I got replaced has no scan lines and I can't take my eyes off of it lol
