Hey Guys,

I'm wondering if this is an issue or if it is just my OCD.
There is this "lump" under the actual class on the display. It's really not visible until you look at it in certain lighting but once I saw I can't un-see it. I have never had this on my previous watches. (all aluminum).
I have attached some pics but it was really hard to capture them.
Any insight would be helpful.

I definitely see what your indicating. Perhaps it's some uniformity issue under the OLED display. I think it's up to you, as long as it doesn't affect your usage with the watch, you could keep it. Or, have Apple look at it or exchange it for a new one.

Thanks everyone. It's tough. I really love the watch but once I saw it, I can't unsee it. Fortunately I still have a week and a half return period.
Problem is that none of the stores have SS or SBSS Series 3's in stock...

Here is another better pic

I noticed this issue on all of my Series 2 Sapphire watches (5 in total). The lumps were only visible in certain bright light situations - mostly direct sunlight and extreme angles. The screen looked fine in all normal viewing conditions. Is this similar to the effect that you are seeing?

I would definitely made a genius appointment. I had to get a replacement on one of my iPhones right after launch and they had replacement stock. I'm not sure how they work with watches though. Maybe just getting it on record and you can keep it until the replacement comes in?

Yes, exactly! All Five??? Wow. All Stainless Steel? I have had 3 watches (Aluminum) and didn't notice them.

I’m not one to nitpick but I’m just wondering if the issue could get worse as time goes along.

It's due to the sapphire glass and I saw it on 2 Ceramic and 3 SS watches in both 38mm and 42mm. Almost looks like a couple of ripples underneath the glass. It is very hard to see in all but the most extreme light and angles, but they are definitely present. My sister in law swore her 38mm SS didn't have it, but in the right light they were there.

Gotcha. Thanks. There are some other ripples on mine but that bump in the corner does stick out.

If the bump is visible in normal light then that is a screen defect, but the ripple effect is quite normal. I have them on my Series 3 Hermes as well, but I literally have to go looking for them and very hard to see unless you purposely look.

I can not see any problem in this area on my black SS AW3. Does not mean it is not there but if I can not see under normal conditions, I will keep this AW rather than risking getting a bad one.

I don't have it either on my SBSS unless I am not looking in the right spot or close enough.

Send it to me so I can confirm. Lol.

Beautiful watch.

Currently will pic up aluminum. If I like the Watch, I'll upgrade to ss on the next iteration of the Watch

Did you ever follow up on this?

I actually wrote in this thread I didn't see it on mine but then this weekend in the right light it is there. Its almost like a bump in the same exact spot as yours.

I have until Friday to return mine and considering it as I just really have no idea if it will get worse and don't want to be out of warranty in the future.

Actually Yes.

I went to the apple store to return it. I went back to a Series 2 SS.. Got it in the car. Same thing. I'm starting to think it's normal.

Wow, that is very interesting.

With the poster in this thread and the responses you may be right that it is normal.

I wonder whats under the screen in that area in the internals or processing what occurs for the sapphire?

Good to know though as I didn't want to return if not needed but also didn't want to wonder what if.

Mine does not have it either. Strange. Once you notice something like this, you likely always look for it. Perhaps it's some uniformity with the display, but if it doesn't affect the display itself, I guess someone would have to overlook it.
