Maybe there's a misunderstanding what I was meaning to say and referring it was that it didn't have an actual glass cover, and I think reading to much on the forums, I've read ppl saying that how the screen is so fragile and so easy to scratch and seeing that I paid $2600 I get paranoid reading these things.

Well, I own a 2012 rMBP and I can assure you that its glass ;) I also don't see how it is supposed to be fragile and easy to scratch - I literally clean spots off it with my fingernail and there have been no scratches so far. Of course, if you drop it, it will probably break - its glass after all.

I think the beneficial point of having a screen protector is not to have it protect against the keyboard when lid is closed but rather to protect against every day things like when accidently touching it - just general smudge and grease.

Sure, you can wipe your screen but I feel safer wiping the screen protector instead. If you get something on it that won't get removed, just replace the screen protector. A little more difficult to replace the screen

Exactly, was it hard applying the screen protector?
