Hahahaha! Woops ... :D

I went to delete an application called "Launcher.app" because turns out it sucks. Well, I had command held down, and at the time /Applications was highlighted. So, I ended up deleting /Applications AND /Applications/Launcher.app ...

I restarted my phone and saw this:

Woops.

Luckily, SFTP and all the other binaries are stored elsewhere, so SSH still works and SFTP still works. I was able to snap a screenshot, and then restore my /Applications folder with the /Applications folder of the restore image I decrypted just now.

So, I didn't have to start my hacks all over. :D

yea.. i agree with u guys.. the first step is maybe too much.. jaibreak and jailed it again.. but after you install ssh and sftp.. its all really easy and fun to do... total acsess to your phone via network... great!./ :)

wow... lol  .. that was close hihi.. but everything turns okay.. so cheers mate :)

so these hack apps allow you to customize the icons, and add new apps?

i havent researched any hacks yet, for fear of killing the phone.

things like green signal bars, custom banners, custom icons.....? not all photochops?

there was no photoshopping with any of the screenshots. they're all just hacks. my green signal bars actually change color from green to yellow to orange and to red depending on the signal strength.

and there's really no need to worry about bricking your phone. if you mess something up, just do a system restore and you're back to your original settings. (be sure to sync first tho!)

Here's a few screenshots of mine :)

As far as you know.

Cause Apple isn't clever enough to compare your OS to the stock firmware right before it restores it.

I hacked my phone, then saw the bubbles in the glass. Sent it back to Apple, got a loaner, hacked it too. Sent the loaner back when I got my second iPhone with bubbles. Hacked that phone too. Then I got another loaner, hacked it, sent it back and now I'm finally back on my phone.

Apple never said a word.

for those of you that have things like textedit, what can you do with the app? can you create/open/save text files right on the phone? where do they save to? how is it to type in? can you copy paste?

so many questions...

and obviously, posting a link to a tutorial on how you did the process would be welcome!

TextEdit is still very basic. It's integrated with Finder.app, so you can open files, edit them, and save them. Typing on it is just like typing in Notes.app.

If you have Terminal.app you can create files with the touch command, then open them in TextEdit, save them wherever you want, and do that...

No copy/paste yet.

Okay I'm pretty much finished hacking until the next iPhone update comes out.

Right now I have pretty much all the hacks out there working ... I will be working on tethering once I get my MacBook Pro in like a week. After that, there's really nothing else I care to do to it.

I use Finder.app to list my programs, and to run them. I found out that Launcher.app didn't show all of them which was irritating ...

If anybody wants the Finder.app icon I made, just let me know... :D

Here's my final home screen:

And as you can see, I have access to the rest of my programs via Finder.app:

Hey guys

has anyone figured out a way to change the background of the application window to either another color or preferably a image?

The only way to do it right now is to tack on a fake background and text to all the icons, make them oversized, and line up right.

There's no easy way to do it yet.

Yeah I'm gonna wait until they have a nice GUI app where you can drag and drop applications in. No terminal for me! :D

I never understood why people are so scared of the terminal.

A few commands in the terminal and you DO have a GUI app on your computer that you can use to drag and drop, browse, manipulate files, install programs, etc... wirelessly too!
