Find a machine still running 10.2 or 10.3 and tell me that! Mac fonts, skins and icons get more and harsh , ugly and windows-like with each OS.

HA! Thanks for the laugh.

Windows has changed much more to become OSX in the last decade than the flip side of that.

Oh man, when it comes up as often as it does on my toshiba it looks ANYTHING but slick.

To be fair the blue circle is very different from the beach ball. The blue circle comes up when something is loading, the beach ball comes up when something is unresponsive (which is often when something is loading) This means that with the blue circle you can still interact with many elements of the OS and application, but with the beach ball it's effectively frozen.

EXACTLY! Thats why I hate it so much. I open ANYTHING and I have to stare at that eyesore for the next 20 seconds (it sticks around well after the application is running).

I hate hate hate hate hate it!

Looks like you need a new monitor...

No. I dont. As well as a new ugly ass looking macbookPro running 10.5, I have several macs and have the older OS's running on some of them them for fun. Only sometimes its sad.
Seriously. If you actually saw the new and older OS's side by side ,you might agree with me.
Mind you, i'm just discussing how they look not function.

Under the hood...

...improvements, I bet, will be many and far reaching...

...but we won't see any real world improvements until there the appsstart taking advantage of those under the hood improvements.

I think it's best to temper enthusiasm and delay the expectations until seven or eight months AFTER Snow Leopard is released.

I'll be happy if they just remove the ridiculously small number of processes allowed limits. It's annoying when you have to close a window before you open a new windows because the "can't fork" message appears in the logs.

So true.

Except their ads. Those have simply become more retarded with each passing month. Nothing Mac-like about those. At all.

http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/02/24/new-rookies-battle-between-generations-ad-from-microsoft

To be fair, those ads will NEVER see any airtime. And apple hasn't exactly launched a new campaign in a looong time when it comes to macs (besides the green ones).

Then again, apples ads are actually effective and don't leave the audience wonder what jerry seinfeld and bill gates shaking his ass has to do with computers.

I have a 40" Sony Bravia 1080p, how does it looks btw? In 1080p? Is it better than say...1920x1280 on a 24" ACD?

I could be making a mistake here, but why would a lower resolution look better on a bigger screen?

1920x1200.

And, no, it wouldn't look better... at all. It'd look markedly worse, since we don't have resolution independence.

Ah, tallest, just the guy to ask. What exactly is resolution independance, and why would having it make a lower resolution look better?

I'd search, but your great at explaining things in an easy to understand way.
