Like other have said, who cares? There are other apps out there that do this and who even wants to hammer away some docs on a phone? The Notes app works just fine for rough compositions.

Obivously the small screen will lend for reduced utility, but I think it's great that iWork is coming to the iPhone.

Quick edits, impromptu presentations, looking up info in Numbers will all be great.

WHAT WE NEED NEXT:

iWork needs a better cloud syncing strategy.

Apple should learn from Dropbox with their blazing fast, 100% reliable syncing service. Apple should tie this service into iWork and Mac in a deeply integrated way. Deeply integrated.

Just allow Keynote and PowerPoint presentations via VGA videoprojector to boost sales all over the world on corporate, education and domestic markets. With bluetooth remote control.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

I'm actually a little bummed out that Apple still seems to be doing it the wrong way, where you have to export a copy to work on it on your computer. Then you have to export another copy to take it onto your iPad. Maybe you forgot to add something, but at least you have your iPhone. But you didn't export the latest copy from your iPad so you're using an old version.

All these computers and devices should be updating one document that's sitting up in the cloud. This exporting stuff is an awful way to do it.

dogness..........

if it does not work great on your mac....... why should it work better on your iphone?

it works fine on all my macs... although i do not like to support M$

Because windows live is better on the iphone to the mac ;)

And seamless syncing with the iPad version, too, no doubt. Should be useful, as long as people can make their iPhone 4s get signal long enough to download iWork from the App Store :p

Here's a clearer picture:

To be clear: this all looks pretty fake to me. No one remembers the jailbreak port of Pages? If the original person who ported Pages spent more than 10 minutes, he probably could have done this...

I doubt 9to5mac actually has some sort of pre-release version on Pages on their hands.

Meh, to be honest unless these stink much less than iPad versions it's hard to be interested.

I'd like a good PowerPoint app though.

Hope its true because this could be very handy for an upcoming project I need to do.

iWork for iPad is nice to have but compatibility with iWork for Mac is less than desirable. In every document I find layout changes between the devices make inter compatibility impossible.

Man, Apple is on a roll with the new apps for iPhone. First iBooks, then iMovie, and now maybe iWorks. I think another cool app would be an actual iPhoto app, instead of the the basic photo app.

Pages for iPhone

I think the point of the Pages app is aimed at people like myself. I am a photographer and would love to be able to send out invoices when I have a spare 5 mins on a job. I spend my life on the road and although I could use my MacBook Pro I can't do that when I am standing around waiting for a job to start. Some of my clients would love me to be able to invoice them directly from each assignment so they can keep their finances up to date and i can increase my cashflow. I think this will complement the full version during the moments I cannot access my laptop. I do not think Apple would release this app thinking that people would use it to write their theseus on but if you have 40,000 words to complete it might help you add to your work at times when the laptop is not available. I know that the moment (if) Apple launch it I will be in the que to buy it!

There are dedicated time billing and invoicing applications for the iPad and the iPhone; as a photographer you might also be interested in the model release generators.

Personally I've written a 5,000 word article on the iPad using the bluetooth keyboard and found it much more pleasant than my netbook; likewise I don't use Pages if I want to sync data - I use Notes, and have synched notes from seminars and so forth. Works fine and works on both platforms, again.

All I want in Pages that it currently lacks is a word count.

Invoicing on the iPhone

I have searched high and low for a really good invoicing app for the Mac (I am not trying to hijack this thread) but since using pages and the built in spreadsheet/invoicing template I am quite happy to continue using my system, Old Dog and New Tricks! I really think pages on the iPhone will be useful for many people.

I think it would be really good for making quick changes to work or school documents and then posting it back to your iDisk or server of your choice. Hopefully they will make it less of a hassle to type than it is on the iPhone texting.

Hi. Your monitor uses a back light to illuminate. Some older LCDs were less efficient and that may show up as additional warmth. Should not get hot though.
