It might be worse...

I had my laptop stolen so I ordered a replacement. We were going away but since they needed a signature, I figured they would just try to deliver and bring it back to the depot for a pickup.

Well not exactly.

My son was checking on the house and found my new iPod between the door and the screen door. The note on their website indicated someone had "signed" for it.

A few days later, my sister in law saw a truck leaving our house. She decided to check and found my 2K laptop between the doors.

The manager said it was a "mixup" but he never apologised. :-(

That reminds me of how my 2nd gen touch was delivered just a couple days ago. I live in a town that is only nine kilometres off the main highway, but they thought it was too much trouble to come that distance, so they left it in a metal crate that was designed for deliveries only for the town they were passing through; not the town that I live in. I only got it by luck because one of my friends owns a store here and regularly has to go down there to pick up deliveries. It so easily could have been stolen by anyone, and they didn't even get a signature. The fact they left my $420 device sitting in a box next to a highway in what is almost the middle of nowhere just really pissed me off.
