Regardless of Software or Hardware issues.

A brand new laptop shouldnt come with problems like this Regardless.

If im within the 14 days id demand for a replacement.

i got a similar problem but mine is on the top right where the growl notification appears it distorted the growl box and nothing else and only appeared when booting up my mbp havent had that since i usually just put it to sleep and not shut it down unless i wont use it for more then a day

it only comes up with discreet gfx ON and not with integrated gfx

i took a command shift 3 screenshot and it showed up so hopefully its just a software issue that can be resolved

I know...:(

I'm over the 14 days but under 30 days. Any chance Apple Phone Support will ship me a replacement?

Defective parts are covered for one year. you should be fine for them to ship the new computer to you. You just have to return the defective one.

I have the same problem!

So glad I'm not the only one! I have a 2010 MBP and it just started doing this in safari last week. Generally I have to restart to get it to go away, as opening new windows just makes it worse. I took screen shots but they don't come out accurately - they take the weird mess on the screen and distribute it evenly across the screen (I don't know how else to say it). Probably not related, but I've also noticed a louder than usual fan? noise from the left wrist pad lately, so I'm planning to go to the apple store for both. It doesn't sound loud enough to be a hard drive issue but I've had a couple fail before so I'm not taking any chances. It's odd though that the screen thing has never happened before and now it's happening all the time.

How should I explain this over the phone so they will ship me a new one? Any benefits for waiting a few months in?

Please post back on your Apple Store visit! Good luck!

Went to the Apple Store today. When I described my screen issues and that I had read that it might be a flash issue, the guy said he was aware of it and it was not uncommon. In disk utility he checked the hard drive and it said it was corrupted, so he repaired it. He said that the latest snow leopard update was supposed to address this, so he ran software update, and he further stated that Adobe had come out with an update so he went to their site and updated flash.

Thus far, no problems but then again it hadn't happened in the last day or 2 so we'll see. Hopefully it was that easy but we'll see.

I just came back to post in this thread to ask this: Should I just update OSX Snow Leopard from 10.6.4 to 10.6.5?

I need to anyways so I can fix the "I see black bars on the edge of my HDTV" problem from my Moshi HDMI adapter.

So should I go ahead an update?

Current version is 10.6.7. Just run software update.

yup, that's all they did for me in the store. He also downloaded a flash update from the adobe site. I haven't had it happen since they did this (knock on wood).
