Anyone experiencing problems with the SE and touch ID? Very often it doesn't recognize my fingerprint to unlock the screen.

my SE recognizes my fingerprints about 8/9 out of 10 times. My 6S is really faster and more reliable. But still, I am very very happy with my new SE.

Could dry skin affect fingerprint recognition then? Im perplexed why it never gets my print..

I registered one finger 3 times and thus far no issues. Only had my 6s a little over a month. Multiple times to hopefully guarantee good results. It has. My 5s had a few issues, but overall it worked.

I've had no issues with mine. I registered both thumbs and it unlocks without issue. I've heard reports that it's slow but to be honest I can't imagine it working much quicker. :)

This is my first Touch ID device.

Only issue I've ever seen is sometimes - like 1/30 times - it won't unlock until I remove my finger.

Usually just put finger to it and it unlocks - sometimes i do that - it doesn't unlock - so then i remove my finger and then it unlocks.

I never thought of registering the dame finger multiple times.... Good idea.

Never had an issue with my SE. Like others said, make sure you register the finger as three different prints or so and make sure you let it scan all the different parts of the tip of your finger, sides, etc.

You wouldn't find it slow unless you've used an iPhone 6s, which is annoyingly fast. I tested the iPhone 6s' scanner multiple times, and many of those times just pressing the button very quickly and letting go to check the time would unlock the phone. Sometimes I couldn't even press the home button and let go any faster, and it would still unlock it.

I liked the better accuracy of the new Touch ID scanner, but prefer the slower speed of the first generation one.

It gets it right 4/5 times. On other occasions, I need to try again and it works.

I have only registered each finger once: both thumbs, and both index fingers.

If I had a real problem with TouchID, I'd register each finger multiple times!

I find the touch ID perfect, can't imagine it being any quicker and it recognises both my thumbs which Ive registered, the only time it doesn't work is if I plant the wrong finger on it.

If you've only registered four fingers, you should use the last print to register your main unlocking finger again. It'll improve accuracy quite a bit.

Traded my 6 for an SE. I know its supposed to be the same touch ID sensor, but I am finding it much quicker on the SE than the 6 (I have never used a 6s, so can't comment on how fast that is)

There the same sensor etc. You can keep it fast by updating your print every couple of weeks.

Yeah I know they are the same, but it absolutely is quicker. This may be better capturing of my fingerprint this time, or maybe its the faster processor/ram is processing the input of my fingerprint quicker (guess they could all be variables in the process)

Probably better capture this time. My SE doesn't seem any quicker than my 5s was, though I never thought of it as slow. I just think the 6s is TOO fast.

That's where I'm at also. 6S is too quick for me. Should be a slider to decide how long we want it to take to unlock and go to the homescreen.

I have an update on this issue. I registered my thumb about five times and it worked perfectly for a day or so. The next day it was slower to recognise print, and right now After five or six failed attempts I have to open my phone with the passcode.

I'm tempted to think that dry skin on my thumb is the issue, which changes the signature a bit.

Any other things I can do?
