I'd say the only thing the SE has going for it compared to the 7+ is that it's more comfortable to use. Then it's up to the consumer to rank how important that is to them.
That's subjective though. I personally find the rounded edges of the 6/6s/7 series phones more comfortable than the 5/5s/SE. Those sharper corners always seemed to dig in just the wrong way in my hands. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I meant size of the phones. I actually agree about form factor.

To contribute to the thread, the 7 Plus is the better phone. It also costs twice the amount of the SE, so you pay for the much improved specs. To me it was worth it, but I like big phones and needed 256GB.

The rest of the topic sounds pretty tinfoil hat though. I don't know what the actual issue is, OP, as you've yet to actually explain what's happened without using terms like "zapped by Apple", but regardless, I can guarantee that Tim Cook isn't behind it, as you seem to keep implying. That's just outrageous to even suggest that the company or its CEO is setting out to what, prevent you from being a customer? Please. My suggestion would be to take your iMac to an Apple Store and have them set up the hardware you're buying on the spot.

I see your points, but here's the deal with the iPhones and something that Apple tweaked in my iTunes account after Cook received my last email.

The day after I sent the letter to Tim Cook, Apple -who already ran battery diagnostics through my 6s+ via iTunes- shut off the Battery Usage and Standby time on every iDevice going forward (I tried an iPad mini 4 in January and when I saw that the battery usage and standby did not appear, I knew there was a tweak for my account.)

Now: I am seeing this as resolved this Friday when I try my 3rd 7+ and I will write Cook again and let him know that the 5th Avenue store's commitment to keeping me a customer and willingness to do right brought me back to the fold. I didn't contact Cook just to crank, I have emailed Cook several times when the stores or reps did right by me too and I will do that again.

As far the ports "zapped" issue, that's apparently something of a problem with Mac OS after Yosemite because a complete wipe back to Yosemite managed to make my mom's iPad 2 appear back in iTunes and make all the ports usable again. I am unable to carry the iMac so your suggestion is moot. I wouldn't anyway. I've been using Apple hardware and software for many many years and the ease of use and ability to troubleshoot on my own is one reason why I've sunk so much coin into their coffers.

Once my iMac detects the 7+ without issues, you can send me that tinfoil hat. :p

I own my mistakes as much as my successes. It takes a lot to piss me off. I am also willing to give praise where it is due too. Really, I just want tech that works. I'd rather think about creating than troubleshooting and getting all Marvin the Martian-like because I was at my breaking point in late December after 3 years of non-stop issues. The alternatives are not pretty so...

thanks for your response.

EDIT: decided to stick with my Moto Z Play. I cannot justify buying another 7+ and I still have serious misgivings about the Battery Usage and Standby being turned off from Apple's end.

But I do hope everyone else digs their iPhones.

and further update...just couldn't grok Android so went back to Apple.

Bought a Jet Black 7+ 128 gb. For all the issues I had at this one :apple: store, they went out of their way to make me feel welcome and gave me a nice discount and service yesterday. And I have something I can use out of the gate.

What I learned is you may not agree with the way Cook runs Apple and there will always be something that is screwed up, but I was still able to get that 7+ running in 10 minutes the way I wanted it. If I have issues, I will go back to being more polite again as that gets me more of what I want (case in point, yesterday when the store leader and a couple of senior reps took very good care of me.)

And I love the 7+

I think it's awesome that folks can rock the SE too (the screen size was way too small for me now that I've actually seen and held the SE).

Thanks for the input & patience folks.

I would keep iPhone 7 off course. It's better, more expensive, faster processors, 3D touch, thinner cell phone.
Dominant in any way. iPhone SE is for us who can't afford iPhone 7. Only I don't like when people call him "iPhone for poor"... For me is great, I love my SE 16GB. But I will try for next cell phone to find something bigger, off course iPhone Matt black or Silver.
7 Plus is great for video recording and upload later, special 256GB version.
