True, but you dont pay fees if it dont sell anyways. Do you still have to pay fees if it sells under that promotion/incentive plan?

Yes, you still pay fees if it sells. What you don't pay is a fee to list it. THat is why we are seeing a ton of ridiculous prices on things. Search "star wars" or any hot name. You will likely find listings for stupid stuff asking $10 million, or something ridiculous. Why? Because people can now list ridiculous crap asking ridiculous prices for free.

If someone buys it and they did not require immediate payment when someone hits the buy it now button... they could get crushed by the Final Value Fee before they are allowed to cancel the transaction... waiting for the reimbursement of that fee.

I sold am old iPhone the other day, buyer never paid. I had to wait a minimum of 8 days before I could cancel the transaction. I already got charged the final value fee. I will get reimbursed, but it is currently charged to my credit card on file.

Final value fees have always ever posted monthly for me. You shouldn't be getting charged for anything like that at all. Your situation is quite strange. Do you not have a paypal account set up or something?

The same thing happened to me. On a laptop. If you happen to have the item bought a few days before the final value fees are charged you will be charged.

I was under the impression final value doesn't get billed at a set date, but after a set amount of time has passed since the item sold. I guess my advice then is to figure out the set date and sell items on eBay accordingly. THat is to say, list big ticket items just after eBay has collected their monthly fees from you. This way you will have ample opportunity to file a non-paying bidder without having to deal with final value fees being charged to your account.

I guess that makes sense. Honestly I don't even think about them anymore. After I had one month of $172.65 I stopped paying attention to it. Its ridiculous.

When it comes to stuff like this, it is only worth what a collector is willing to pay. They should consider adding the "make an offer" option and they may actually get a bite.

If you bring a rare $1 coin to the bank they will give you $1 for it. If you bring it to a collector you will fair better.

It is set up monthly... the auction for my old iPhone ended, right before my monthly invoice. And since I have to wait 8 days to cancel the transaction... I got charged the fee... It will get reimbursed, and it is only like $10... but for a buy it now item that is $10,000.... that fee would be huge $800-$1100 or so.

MosDef not worth the asking price. Maybe in 50 years when we have our phones implanted into our brains and projected through our eye.

I'm sure it will sell to a collector. Kudos to the person who bought one and kept it in the original packaging.

Most of the fees are charged between the 13-17th of each month. Someone wait until the 12th and place a bid, but don't pay. That'll show him not to price an iPhone like that. He would have to wait 8 days to get reimbursed a few $100

I bet in a couple of years when it will be probably worth a lot more than 10K, the lucky one who buys it will be surprised when he/she opens the box and finds .... a brick inside! LOL

Good point about the brick. It's easy to reseal a box. He's already sold a couple of these. One for $3000..... Who knows what's really in the box.

Its easy to repackage in plastic, it could be a scam.
Then again, $10,000 for the original iPhone even in the future is ridiculous. It would probably be donated to a museum. :p
