I didn’t watch season 1 on opening weekend.

I did watch season 2 on opening weekend.

I didn’t pay for my TV+ subscription either year.

Progress?
I didn’t know the show until this year.

I didn’t know Apple TV+ exists until this year.

I was already subscribed to Apple Music and iCloud, individually, since last year. When I discovered One Apple, I subscribed to it right away!

Currently, I’m watching 3 series(Schmigadoon, Ted Lasso and Physical) every week on it.

Progress?

I am late to the party. I just binge watched the first season. GREAT show! And I am not even a Soccer…i mean Futbol fan. it’s the perfect comedic antidote for these cynical times we now live. But it also has heart. Love it. Can’t wait to start watching season 2. ⚽️ 👍🏼

Without actual figures these percentages are meaningless.

The show is great. I would be interested in seeing actual numbers. 200% increase of some magical, undefined number is rather meaningless.
We’ll get revenue growth numbers tomorrow. Apple is not a video streaming service. They’re defined by all of their services as a value add to their ecosystem.

What I love most about this show other than the show itself is the way it flew completely under the radar, not getting 1/100th the hype and buildup of The Morning Show or that Billie Eilish docu-yawner, but quickly made a name for itself with critics and average viewers. It’s success is legitimate, well earned and not manufactured like other AppleTV projects.
Good art just stands on its own and speaks for itself.

Ted Lasso is amazing. Just finished series 1, it was fantastic! Sadly I don’t think it’s enough to warrant a continued subscription to Apple TV moving forward past season 2. There isn’t a lot else on there that interests me bar mythic quest and long way up and I can do all that within my free trial.
1. Foundation
2. John Stewart
3. The Shrink Next Door
4. Schmigadoon. ( surprisingly really Funny)
5. Coda
Bonus: A BIG budget so believe they will have more

No one owns the next big hit ... so you should "Schmig" with it

If you do leave ... you'll probably be back :)

I love Ted Lasso! It's a great show, love Ted's positivity and it shows! Schmigadoon is another great show! I think Apple made great progress and produces quality shows and movies! It probably won't be a long term subscription as we can get one month for $6 CAD and watch all we want then cancel.
I love Schmigadoon

Ted Lasso for the second year running is what the world needs right now. Sometimes you just need some grass roots feel good junk. Thank you to all involved in the writing and production of this show. Good vibes.

I had a job interview Monday morning, which I needed to study and prepare for. Somehow I found myself reaching for the remote late night Sunday - Ted Lasso time! Then I discovered afterwards three episodes of "Schmigadoon" were already out. I went on to gobble all that up before heading to bed. I totally enjoyed Schmigadoon, more than I did enjoy Ted Lasso.
Schmigadoon was much better than I expected it to be.

Still really enjoying the show; slightly tangentially but Schmigadoon was a surprise for me as well.

Apple TV+ continues to really impress me with the quality of its content. Last year I decided to cancel other streaming subs and only keep my Apple TV+ sub for streaming as an experiment, and have not missed a thing honestly. Probably not great for people who always need "something" playing as background while they do something, but if you are the type to sit down and focus on a single thing I think it hits all the marks.

I would way rather have a few stellar quality shows over a buffet of mediocrity.

@wsklar528

Please delete your post. It's not cool to post something like that for people who may not have seen the show.
Oh dear dog. Really? The episode title is called “Goodbye Earl” and the incident in question starts off the epsiode.

It’s not like someone said RIP Coach or something shattering.

I wish we had a Neilson type site that tracked streaming numbers. I know the companies wouldn't go for it, but I always find these articles amusing because it says it set opening weekend records but we really don't have a comparison. I guess they are comparing to other shows or Season one of Lasso, but setting a record with Apple TV+ is like saying the viewership increased from 10 to 20 viewers. Of course Ted Lasso was highly regarded and the ad campaign for it was good, and word of mouth was spectacular, but I would love to see the data on these streaming sites and get year to year comparisons.

My wife was losing her mind. She has two Ted Lasso t-shirts. She was considering a third and I was like "Maybe wait to see if they make t-shirts about season 2 soon?" haha. I haven't seen her this excited about a TV show since Flight of the Conchords when we were dating.

I like this show. Apple is doing great with TV & Music.

I actually liked all the shows I‘ve seen in Apple TV+, and while I’m a big Apple fan, my family is not, and they all liked most of the shows.

Well deserved! I went into the season 2 premiere thinking they’d just try to re-do the magic of season 1 — nope! They showed, yes, are a show with heart but we will take risks. 🦮 Excited for the rest of S02!
Huh. Interesting. While I do find the show far too sweet and far too conveniently contrived beyond what I would normally accept, in these times we live in, I think it's fine. It's pure escapism and I'm good with that.

But this first episode I found boring without any spark and too predictable. I wonder if some of the writers have changed???

And I would be interested to know how many people watched Thunder Force all the way to the end but Netflix isn’t saying.

There is a Nielsen-type site at https://www.nielsen.com/us/en/top-ten/ which shows the top ten streaming shows, but right now they don't track ATV+, only Amazon Prime, Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix.

There's a more comprehensive version at https://streamingtvcharts.com but they don't make any case for why you should believe their listings. No methodology or data source is published there. For what little it's worth, they show ATV+ occasionally breaking into the top 15, and the Ted Lasso premiere at 11.

It's easy to achieve record breaking moments when everything before was below mediocrity... Not saying I don't like Ted Lasso, I like It a lot but this is like their only show that people would actually subscribe to Apple TV+ just to watch it. All this is the same thing as when Netflix releases the next stranger things, buy it for a month and not renew. Apple still needs a great back catalogue to KEEP people subscribing.

considering how much Apple is putting into ATV+ (a 2022 ten episode one season only series will be about 1/5th of a billion, maybe more), I am surprised Apple didn’t either try to buy a semi unique catalog or leverage with an existing pay network station to offer that channel’s oldercontent to provide depth of choice. All original content will take a serious amount of time to build up any depth.
I know from reading a website that there are a lot of series and content in the ATV+ pipeline. But by the nature of the game there will be A LOT of misses. Reading over it, I didn’t find many that caught my attention. A Chuck Barris thing, a pro surfing thing, a series where a kid in Alaska via social media accidentally unknowingly reveals his family is in the witness protection program, the expensive one I mentioned earlier about WW2.
there were probably 60 different shows and docs already in the works. Just not many that caught my attention.
