No more dents. :)

Just sudden cracks. :D

It feels a lot like plastic... because it is plastic. It is plastic that has been reinforced on the inside with carbon fibers. The plastic is usually epoxy or polyester. This is the outer surface that you would feel.
Remember when people used to complain about their computing devices being made of plastic instead of metal...

I think it will be difficult to find a way around the poor thermal conductivity of the carbon fiber composite. It will keep your lap cool, but will cook the chips inside. The heat from the chips needs to be dissipated.

Not Going to happen.

Apple will never use carbon fiber. Want to know why? It's old school and it's not earth friendly enough for Apple. No need to debate this issue. I can assure you.

Carbon fibre is an absolute complete and total pain in the whatsit to recycle, Apple would be hammered from an eco hypocrite angle if they where to go with carbon fibre. Strongly doubt Apple would even think of it. Try recycling Carbon fibre and watch your self being frog marched out of the recycling centre.

One think I can say for sure, is that I will put any new iPad into a rubber case immediately, and I will never see the frame again. So they can make it out sea weed for all I care.

I kind of expected them to come up with a cardboard composite type of thing for the exact reason stated in the quote. If owners are never going to see the case, then who cares what is made of....... How about raw electronics and ditch the aluminium bit altogether. Just have the screen, circuit board/components and let what ever case peopl want do the job of keeping the thing intact????
