When presented with the option to log into a website or app with an email address or phone number, would one be considered any more secure than the other? I think email addresses tend to be more public and therefore more prone to exploitation. Thoughts on this?

Both of them are just one part of an authentication system, and neither is secret. Both are public, just like your name. Don’t worry about it.

If it's such a concern, you could make a single-use email address that's only for use with a website (or sites), then don't use it for anything except website login.

You should use at least two email servers and use one for family and friends and the other for web sites and stores! This way you can minimize SPAM in the other family email address! It’s even safer to setup this today with web servers!

Plus never put your email address plain on web forum thread! There are spammer bots scanning forums for email addresses!

I have aliases set up on iCloud. I use my email registered with Apple for friends and family and an alias for online registrations and forums, and another alias for my website. I'll continue to use the one for online in these instances. Being that some sites won't let me change my username, I suppose it's best to also log in using the alias email that I know I can change (refresh) when I need to. Thanks for the insight.
