Welp, here we go again. Shows up in Software update along with this blurb from Apple:

Code:
Security Update 2020-007 10.14.6 –– Restart Required

Security Update 2020-007 is recommended for all users and improves the security of macOS.

For more information on the security content of this update see https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222.

Hope this doesn't clog my RAM like the last one did..

Interesting how these security updates on Mojave appear to create a temporary volume called 'MacOS Installer' then boot to that volume to actually run the updates. Then when all the stuff is dearchived / installed / whatever, the machine removes the temp installer volume, then boots back to the original partition.

Probably better than trying to get the OS to perform surgery on itself while it's conscious..

Ok, it's back up.. RAM levels look okay..the new build is 18G7016..

We'll see how things go..

The last time i updated Mojave i thought my HDD had crashed! My good old MBP Mid-2012 was SO unbelievably slow. Glad Apple acknowledged the problem and fixed it very quickly (after I restored the OS) but it was something that never should have happened.

Hope it was a one time quirk and this update will not cause any problems.

I was brave enough to install, no issues ... EXCEPT, still can't attach files in Safari 14.0..1, was hoping that fix would have been included ...

installed Safari 14.0.2 but attachments still not working, or, maybe sporadically ...
this forum seems to work - ignore the pic below, it's for another thread actually
but most other sites, including gmail, attach still is not working :mad:

Downgrade to 14.0. Fixed it for me.

how did you do that? have not found a 14.0 installer :(
Reinstall Mojave via recovery. Check for updates after restart.
Install security 005 only. Restart.
Install Supplemental - this is 14.0. Restart.
Install security 006 after.

Ignore 14.0.1/2, or use Terminal to ignore them, but you need an MDM enrolment for that.

Thanks, I knew about the re-installing of Mojave route, just not really keen on doing that (time consuming) but appreciate your quick response ... luckily in gmail, drag/drop works, and for the other sites, I continue to switch to Chrome for the time being.

It really isn’t that bad, at least not on an SSD system. Leave it going overnight then do security then Safari first thing in the morning.

I have the 14.0 installer saved. (i copied it from /Library/Updates) before hitting the restart button. I can upload it somewhere if someone is interested.

I don't have a new notifications badge number. Sounds like there are two updates, but my badge is still stuck at 1 for the OS upgrade I have declined to install. What's up with this? Isn't the number supposed to change when a new download is available?

This update killed an external monitor attached to my 2012 Air. A Dell U2412M connected via DisplayPort. It wasn't being detected at all after the update and a couple of restarts.

I had to boot into safe mode (hold shift down on reboot) and it was detected then. Restarting normally seems to have worked.

Restart your Mac holding Command+R then click Reinstall macOS. Agree to the terms, then choose Macintosh HD. It's really, really easy.

The security update didn't completely install for me.
Did the long download and went through the motions of installing, then rebooted to a screen with this message.
"The install could not complete, unable to locate resources", Restart and try again.
The wording might not be exact but that's pretty much it.
So I'm off to try again...
