AI saves me a lot of time.
Same here, especially with coding.

I'm tired of coding in VBA and writing the same Excel formulas over and over in my life. AI does that for me.
I find DAX to be overcomplicated. AI helps me, but it too seems to struggle.
As for Swift and SwiftUI, I often ask AI to write small helper classes or investigate bugs or write unit tests, which I find boring to do by myself.
As for translating stuff, I found it works better than Google Translate or Apple's built it translate feature. But no translate feature in iOS 18. Maybe it'll be in iOS 19.

It's far from a solution in search of a problem, there's just so many applications possible with AI, people are still experimenting.

Way too raw to say this is an AI iPhone. No imagination, just plain basic AI integration with already existing iOS functionalities. Apple is not trying to wow the world with this AI integration, they are trying not to fall behind the AI hype and of course sell more devices.

You may be surprised to hear that there are laws against that here in the ummm EU...

Just as laws regarding phone recording can vary by U.S. state, laws can similarly vary by EU country. For example, I believe it is legal in Sweden to record a phone conversation even if only one person is aware of the recording.

They can record you now with an extra recording device, but I believe both sides have to agree?
I think in most countries, even though you recorded someone say something incriminating, if s/he did not consent explicitly to the recording, you can't bring that to court.

Is there anybody out there who is completely disinterest in anything relates to AI?

Just cannot seem to get my head around why? its seems great on the surface, but to me its adding layers of complexity to things that are pretty simple to achieve with your own intelligence.

People just don't get it yet. It's a nice add-on to life.

Example, I am buying a house. I went onto my AI account and had a conversation about the house, it acted as sort of a financial advisor and reminded me of a few key things first. We then worked out a specific budget and ran some scenarios. It told me, based on the zip code, tax rates, assessment, and local mils how much the taxes are likely to increase after my first year homesteading the property. It told me what percentage of my income is going toward housing.

It asked me if I wanted to work out a budget based on my new mortgage. I provided some of my spending information, it extrapolated. We talked about how much I will be able to save for retirement based on my budget.

I use it at my government job to deal with various legal situations, just to ask about how statute may apply. We are not lawyers, but work with the courts, and most things are common knowledge to us. For things that come across our desks that we don't see but once a year or once a decade, it's nice to have AI.

did u even watch the video? Theres so many tasks that can now be relegated to the AI that you would've otherwise you had to do yourself. So many tasks cut in half now to free your time up to do things that arent on your phone. What cant you wrap your head around?

If I were mankind’s greatest enemy, I would implement an item that slowly lures people in with the promise of convenience. Then, when enough of the populace is hooked beyond hope, I would use that item to control the populace. This is nothing more than “how to conquer people without firing a shot 101”.

Why people would throw away their own intelligence in order to adopt artificial intelligence is beyond me.

Me.

I literally couldn’t care less about AI. I wish more focus was put elsewhere instead of a gimmick/fad that will be forgotten soon.

Except we don’t mind doing those tasks. That’s the point. While cool looking, many of us aren’t complaining about the old way.

Hence why AI is underwhelming.

It’s also why I never hated Siri. The fact ppl are so attached to or against their voice assistant is so weird to me.

I’ve used Siri, Alexa, Cortana and okay google a handful of times but in reality they all suck.

AI isn't going anywhere; it’s really just getting started.

You don't mind; I prefer not to waste my time with mindless tasks.

You organization allows you send your internal email to chatgpt? That’s breaking information security policy I can imagine.

Since I make the policy in regards to how that data is collected, stored, used, etc, yes. My organization allows me to use ChatGPT. I feel sorry for those who work for people that are so tyrannical about what tools they can use to do their job.

No, don't use that nailgun! We drive our nails with a hammer like god intended! /s

I understand your point of view, but the majority of our population (in every country in all honesty) has already thrown away their "intelligence" when they installed Facebook and TikTok.

I'm generally against the current "AI" implementations as they're designed to be a hook as you say. I've used it once for any real purpose, and that was creating a cover letter for a job that was expiring in a short time period. I copied over the relevant bits from my CV, added some more details specific to the job, and what comes out is a professional looking cover letter specific to my experience.

I still tweaked the entire letter, but the end result was something I spent an hour on and managed to apply for the job before it was closed. All I used was Google Gemini but without that I'd have likely spent 5-10 hours on that letter, burnt myself out with stress, and then submitted a 3 page mess at the last second.

For every other usage though it's been absolutely useless.

A lot of people I know in my current job use ChatGPT religiously, to the point they will spend hours having "conversations" with it. I die inside every time I hear of it.

Those things don’t argue or “talk back”, which is why they are favored by the folks who don’t know how to interact effectively with people. When one doesn’t know how to handle disagreement or confrontation, then one naturally looks for a medium where those things are absent.

Different strokes. Just like not everyone cares about the smart Home, not everyone cares about I. That's all fine and dandy. I'm not gonna complain about HomeKit getting better just because I don't use it.

That's fine by me. I wouldn't use this for a court case, but I have recorded calls so that I can write up my notes afterward and it is tedious. Having the AI do that for me is a big help.

The place I work now is very tech forward and they basically just leave it to us to regulate our own security. They know that if you mess up and become negligent, you lose your job. ChatGPT and Gemini both know our internal policies, probably better than we do, due to various leaks on social media over the years. That actually comes in quite handy at times and they don't forbit it's usage.

My old job I wasn't allowed to install a freely available printer driver on the unsecured network drive everyone uses and had to wait 3 hours for someone from IT to come down to click it for me.

These old school businesses will be the first to die out by not adapting, and their CEO's will be the first on the picket lines claiming AI toooook errr jerrrrrrrrbs!

No. I just find talking to my phone stupid lol.

If you say so.

You were certainly fine with it six months ago before apple intelligence.

Do you use computers? Calculators?

What you are saying is similar to what some people said about PCs back in the 1970s and 1980s. Some worried that the convenience offered by PCs could lead to a decline in critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. This sentiment echoed broader anxieties about technology making tasks too easy, thereby fostering a reliance on machines rather than human intellect. Similar was said about calculators in the 1970s.

Like PCs and calculators, AI allows people to do more things and do those things more efficiently.

My biggest concern in the video is AI rewriting and/or summarizing what people write. As a reader of many ambiguous work emails, I'm not confident that AI can properly "clean up" a communication and actually say what is intended. It actually helps to know if the person writing such an email is either struggling with the concepts at hand or has a communication deficit. If AI can make text "sound more professional," imagine the disappointment you'll have when you actually have to work with someone who is punching above their weight thanks to AI polishing up their ignorance. And that's my last point, there's value in learning how to communicate formally--it's not a burden to be shouldered by AI, but something we should learn as a courtesy to others. If you can't put the right tone on a professional email, are you also incapable of professional communication verbally, or do you need to improve there? How many times have you run into poor customer service due in large part to people not knowing or practicing professional courtesy?

I do see the potential in some of the other things, but I'm leery of it stepping in where human creativity--with its individuality, is essential.

Live translation of speech in one language to written words in another, understanding idioms and not just dictionary direct translation of words, so that sentences are accurately translated as the speaker finishes a phrase. Super useful when traveling or conversing with someone in a different language.

You are good till your internal data are trained in chatGPT and appearing in the response for other people's request. The only thing you can do is to opt out, but who knows if there is bug that "accidentally" train on your data.

"When you use our services for individuals such as ChatGPT or DALL. E, we may use your content to train our models. You can opt out of training through our privacy portal by clicking on “do not train on my content,” or to turn off training for your ChatGPT conversations, follow the instructions in our Data Controls FAQ."

Oh no, ChatGPT is gonna learn our SKUs! That...already appear on the boxes of our products. The horror! /s

Not all data is sensitive data. It's important in life to learn to make the distinction.
