You’ll see the updates in less than two weeks…
I’ve seen this declaration a lot. What is it based on, trustworthy rumors or the assumption that the M1 processor has to mean that big iPadOS changes are forthcoming? Has Apple indicated the iPadOS 15 is going to be a great leap in software?

Maybe these questions have been answered. I don’t make purchase decisions based on speculation. If Apple is about to release a revolutionary iPadOS update that will utilize the M1 processor’s capabilities, I wish that they would have said so when they announced the 2021 iPad Pros.

And maybe they did and I missed it. I buy devices based on their current abilities, not speculated ones. As of right now, the price increase of the Pros are not justified for my usage, so I’ll hold right before ordering on. WWDC could change that.

I can see there is a significant difference too. i don't understand there are people who claim that both screen look the same.. the deep black in ipp 12.9" is amazing especially watching HDR movie.
It’s not worth the cost of the upgrade just for that. Watching movies you get a big black border at the top and bottom which cuts the screen size in half because you are watching a 16:9 film on a 4:3 screen. It’s better to watch films on a MacBook with its 16:10 screen.

They didn’t, but this isn’t exactly a hard bunch of tea leaves to read. There’s no reason the biggest hardware upgrade in iPad hardware history (M1 with the option of 16GB) would have been without an OS reason for it.

iPadOS’s true form is about to be announced, there is a reason they laid the groundwork by forking it from iOS and from a development cycle we’re about to see the fruition of that move.

No one is telling you to buy based on this, I’m just telling you what I’m 100% confident is happening. Apple laid the groundwork with the hardware release, but they’re not a company that will ever tell you ahead of time what is going to be announced in just a few weeks time down the road. It’s not what they do.

I don't know what this guy talking about saying you can notice it. Its clear as night and day even with the camera capturing the difference. Now I see my iPad as grey.

I keep seeing comments that almost feel like “you’re viewing it wrong.” I should be able to use this thing in any setting/scenario and not have to change my expectations accordingly. All this “people going out of their way.” Yeah, because I just love dropping $2K on a device and finding out they’re some drawbacks. I was using my iPad Pro with magic keyboard in a dimly lit environment, just taking some notes and I was blown away by how bad the “hazing” was. And no, I didn’t have the brightness “Maxed” out. (Funny how people act like it’s crazy for someone to use the display anyway they see fit) This is the first year I’ve ever seen commentary one the “right and wrong way” to use an iPad display

The photos makes it look about “20% worse….still, that doesn’t mean the issue doesn’t exsist.
That’s pretty much my experience too. I wanted to love the new iPad Pro. But you can’t pretend it’s not there. Maybe it’s a bug. Maybe software can make it better. It’s a brilliant screen in many scenarios, but it’s poor in some fairly common ones too at the moment.

Some people just look for problems to complain about. I have the new M1 iPad Pro and blooming is a complete non-issue. To see noticeable blooming you have to turn the brightness up high in a dark room, which is not reflective of real use.

The display is great (like the iPhone Pro) and perfect for photo/video editing and to view HDR content

Its big improvement over normal IPS panels but OLED is still better. If Apple adds more dimming zones in next generation. Then it par on OLED.

2024: “See how the new more-ultra-liquid display with MICRO LED is way better than the mini led it replaced.”

There will be pros and cons for this display and pros and cons for OLED. Blooming is a big problem but that doesn’t mean it’s not an amazing display. Until microled comes to deliver us we will enjoy this.😎

Is it me but when at 1:10 the 2 iPads are compared, the M1 model is overall darker but you see a lot of blooming while the old model is kinda uniform grey everywhere, not sure I prefer the newer model as the contrast is much more noticeable.
People have, since the introduction of LCD, been looking at gray LCD screens. So, that’s going to be the experience they expect. Anything that deviates from that is bound to look weird and unnatural.

Lol. I when to the washroom, close the lights and rebooted my iphone, just to see. Yes, the blooming is there but way less compared to the iPad’s. But unless i need to work in a darkroom or in the closet with the lights out, the blooming on the iPad is … OK. Do hope Apple can reduce it via software.
The blooming you’re referring to is related to the screen’s ability to glow brightly. The brighter the Apple logo, the bigger the blooming. Right now, the iPhone isn’t able to get as bright as the 12.9 2021 iPad, so the worst the iPhone ever gets won’t come close to the iPad.

The blooming is a non-factor unless you're looking for it in non-practical situations

The Brightness, contrast and blacks on this display are 100% worth upgrading for. In my opinion.
I don't think it's a non factor, I think some samples are genuinely screwed up. My friend checked one out at Best Buy that looked beautiful with no real bloom at all... Then he went to the apple store, and there was one there with a ton of bloom.

Science: Using mini-LED technology at the highest brightness in the darkest environment results in blooming.

YouTube: The new iPad Pro is DOOMED?! YOU WILL BE TOO IF YOU DON’T FOLLOW OUR VIDEO SPONSOR WH…
The mini LED and Micro-LED display are am effort to bring the best of OLED and LED technology to displays i.e. deeper blacks and brighter highlights. The more the dimming zones, the better the black levels, brighter the specular highlight details and the lower the blooming levels. Combined with the higher peak brightness of LED technology these features make the most of HDR capabilities. Proper HDR in Dolby Vision or HDR 10+ requires 1000nits peak brightness and above..which traditional OLEDs are simply incapable of...

One plus week - it's an absolute non factor and i can't see myself going backward. I love this display.

All this power for what, nothing, ipad os is colossally held back, can’t even get the devices to recognize my itunes content on an SD card(I’m talking itunes purchased content). I get it you can download it all them on the device but my personal preference is to have all 700gb of personal media on my device backed up To the cloud for easier organizing but still, lets hope something changes at WDCC because at this rate they cost more than MacBooks for “tablet” thaT wants to work as an oversized iphone.
Would you rather they put the A14 in the Ipad 2021? Then it would not be "Colossally held back"?

Why the 12.9 Ipad still have August Shipping? If so many cancelling?
I doubt that very many are cancelling. Most buyers, those outside of tech cocoons, have no idea that anyone has an issue with this iPad. They are simply enjoying what they've purchased.
