I want the Apple coffee mug. Where does it come from?

I'll try to get this into my workflow but command + space works pretty darn quick for me.

Too bad so sad for those folks who have become accustomed to using Cmd+Space to bring up Spotlight.

Edit: Reading another thread, I see this option is user-configurable. Is that right?

I have a hard time believing people use Siri on the iPhone and can't fathom using it on Mac.

Let's not confuse your opinion with facts (or data)...

Craig Federighi said at the WWDC 2015 keynote presentation that Siri gets over 1 billion requests a week. That was last year, it probably gets more requests nowadays.

I'm sure many ding dongs out there think that it's one person at Apple is generating all those requests to rationalize their brilliant opinions.

Anyone know if Siri on Sierra is always listening like on my iPhone 6S where I just say, "Hey Siri..."?

If I'm typing and need an image, I'd like to be able to just call out, "Hey Siri, do a web search for a picture of the Sierra Mountains."

I can understand Siri for phones since the interface is limited and you're sometimes physically limited.

If you're at your desk, you're probably better off using a mouse and keyboard in terms of speed.

I'm curious to see it in action. With a hot key I can initiate a search while typing a document or something.

It really depends on the specificity and the familiarity of the task. The more specific or familiar a task, the less useful Siri is. I really sense that people who don't know their way around a computer are for going to love this though. Not everyone is a fast typist or really knows how to find what they're looking for.

I'll be watching my parents closely after I upgrade them. I'm also curious about how well children can use it.

Excuse me but am I the only one who didn't see Siri doing anything?

I saw an explanation on how Siri should work but no Siri actually working.
[doublepost=1466132037][/doublepost]Imagine walking around the office besides a co worker's computer and tell: Siri... delete hard drive.

Hard to imagine that people can do different things differently. Clearly the whole world has been doing things the same way throughout the whole history.

Siri on my Mac... Not A Chance!

But I'd bet the little girls will love it.
Nah, little kids mainly love witty attempts at commentary.

Useless on the phone, useless on the computer.
Just not for many others.

Hey Siri: Why is your RAM soldered to your motherboard?
Because Apple decided it's greener to recycle rather than repair an otherwise perfectly fine Mac once your RAM, SSD/HDD/FD or battery dies.

At least the data center I'm forced to communicate with to set your timer for pasta runs on 100% renewable energy.

Please don't ask me about energy consumption for solar panel or aluminum production.

I saw he's using the C920 webcam as the mic for Siri. Has anyone gotten that webcam to work for simple phone calls on a mac? My C920 works for Facetime, but does not work for making or answering phone calls on Yosemite

If this supported "Hey Siri" I'd most definitely use it. It'd actually be useful!

But, as usual, Apple does an Apple. *sigh*

I am not upgrading to macOS Sierra or even downloading the Dev Copy from developer.apple.com (Registered Developer). I've got some serious holdups about several of the key features. Apparently, as of now, the 'Gatekeeper' controls will not let you run non-Apple signed 3rd party apps, at all. There is a new filesystem and I am worried, especially in these pre-beta stages it will have flaws and create problems. Thirdly, I am concerned about the privacy and security of Siri as the Siri feature records and saves each voice command as a voice recording on Apple servers, and saves every single one, for their use. That's not privacy. And it all has me a bit concerned. I am holding off on Sierra for now and sticking with El Capitan, which is running pretty rock solid on my side. If Apple promises it's stable and won't bork your system, and opens up Gatekeeper to allow 3rd party apps, I might consider it. But I will test it on a test machine first (MacBook Pro) and not my Desktop. I have upgraded to Developer Previews before, been severely disappointed, and found it a nearly impossible task to restore my older system. I'm not putting this on my main machine as Dev Preview 1. Bad Mistake made. The finals all turned out fine. Late beta stages they get much better.

Thanks to the magic of Siri on the Mac, I can now look forward to witnessing this played out by my parents "Hello Siri" probably have that same smug look too
