Trouble with most of these ear bud replacements is that they don't have mics! I use my mic all the time. One of my favorite features of the iPhone.

I agree. I've been looking for a decent pair of ear phones (not buds as they are way too large for my ears) with mic since the iPhone has been out . . . no luck yet :(

I ust got my iphone yesterday and I already can;t stand the apple headphones. They just destroy my ears, I've been looking at the options with a mic and the button, which brings it down the the Skullcandy iPhone FMJ, Vibe Duos, and Griffin TuneBuds Mobile. Skullcandy won;t ship to canada and the vibe duos are just too much for earbuds (I have a nice set of Audio Techinica ATH-A700 cans for quality) so I decided with Griffin's option. I've jsut ordered them tonight and I'll let you guys know if they're any good when I get them. For 39.99 I'm not expecting too much but I;ve been hearing decent things about the standard TuneBuds.

Skullcandy

I did a search here for the Skullcandy iPhone FMJ earphones.
The most recent detailed review was from last year and the user mentioned having to use sandpaper to get them to fit. Has anyone used/purchased these recently? Is there a good fit on the iPhone's jack and what about the quality of the mic?

I am using V-moda pretty good sound. I like them except for the price +$100.

Overall good sound quality huge jump from the stock ones.

I still say these are the best going. I have been using mine since July of last year and still have no complaints. They are in the canal buds but if you use the small, then you should have no problems. They are very comfortable, sound super and are not that expensive. They are also tangle free. I have also tried the Bose, the Apple, Top of the line Sony and these beat them all for comfort, have in line mic/controls and just plain old work.

hey, jsut wanted to let you guys know that I just received a pair of Griffin TuneBuds Mobile which have the mic and button and they are pretty garbage. I guess the sound is about on par with apple's headphones, which i didn;t find very impressive to start with. For $40 i didn't expect much anyways but at least these don;t swell up my ears...

I know you mentioned these in another thread SFC Archer and they look pretty cool but in the picture on the site the mic looks really big. How much bigger are they than the stock Apple mic and have you compared them to any sennheiser's by chance?

I really don't understand how Apple can make such a small mic but everyone else seems to go with these huge units that drag on your ears. Do they really think consumers want that...

explain what exactly you are looking for? if it's not a bud.

Anything that does not resemble Apple's ear buds. I suppose I shouldn't have said "not buds" when I really meant nothing resembling Apple's ear buds.
I have had a few iPods and have always had problems with Apple's buds because they are too large for my small ears. They never fit. I've always had to use/purchase other ear phones to use with the iPods. I'm experiencing the same problem with the buds that came with my iPhone.

Examples:
Griffin Tune Buds
Rivet's MOBILE STEREO HEADSET

Just looked at these. They look pretty decent. I am concerned about the size of the mic. Is it really as large as it looks? Since I've read mixed reviews (some like it, some hate it) on Griffin's Tune Buds I'm leaning toward your suggestion :)

I think i sent one of you a private post reply but IMO it is not a hindrance. In fact the size is perfect making it easy to find the mute/answer button when needed instantly. I was always digging and feeling for the iPhone one. Also, it does not pull on your ears due to the unique wrap around cord that keeps everything on your head and not popping out of your ear to land in a urinal or toilet. I have not had any negative response from callers saying they could not hear or asking me to repeat myself. I like the size of the mic/button.

It wasn't me (didn't get a PM) but thanks for posting this :)

When are they going to come out with better alternatives? I am searching for something sub $100 but also well made and with decent sound quality. I just wish I could find some foam for my apple headphones so they will stop slipping out of my ear and maybe I can deal with it until there is a good alternative, but I just can't justify paying apple $10 for the little foam things.

Apple should provide different sized ear gels since we all don't have the same size ear canal. I've had problems with their ear buds since the iPod came out.
I ended up ordering the Rivet Mobile Stereo head set recommended here (on the forum). At least they come with different sizes for the ear gels.

the sennheiser MM50 iP earbuds are starting to appear... apple UK has them available now, but the US apple store doesn't list them at all. amazon.com shows a 1-2 month ship time, so I guess they aren't quite ready for a US launch. i'm very curious to start reading reviews; based on sennheiser's track record i'm expecting these to be good.

I just received Rivet's Mobile Headset. It fits (using the smallest gel insert), I like the lanyard fit, the cord is nice, the mic is a nice size . . . . however I was disappointed to find out that the connector is 2.5mm despite the package labeling which clearly states "For Apple iPhone". I tried calling the customer support number for Rivet listed on the package but it was disconnected. No number is listed for them online so I had to resort to email.

Now, I have to get an adapter :( Had I known that when I placed the order I would have included the adapter as well. But the ad only stated what was on the package . . . "For Apple iPhone". Shame on Rivet for deceitful advertising!

I'm surprised to see nobody has added this. Jays make an iPhone adaptor version of their mJays, and the dJays are absolutely amazing earphones. Look over on Head-fi if you want to see how much people like them.

Looks like they are over $200 and no mic
Maybe that's why no one has mentioned them

AJ...sorry to hear about your problem. Just to assist you a little, you ordered the wrong one. There are two headsets...one for the iPhone and one that is normal. You must select the iPhone pair specifically or you will get the set you got.

Now the bad news and also let me apologize upfront for what I am about to tell all users.

I accidently pinched the cord in my jacket zipper of my 10 month old set and the left side stopped working...no problem, my fault and I ordered another set, 2 day Air and guess what....Never arrived!!!

Have now sent 4 emails to customer service in regards to my order...NO REPLY! Looked on every single page or the web site and NO PHONE number, nothing to contact anyone other then that email. I warned them that I would post this to let all know and still no reply.

I finally ordered a set through Amazon and they arrived in 3 days with no problems.

WARNING: Order from this website and company at your own risk, There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE at all and I still have not recieved my order or a refund!!! http://www.rivetnow.com/

Sorry if I recommended a bad company, however, I still love these headphones for what its worth.

Wow! I'm glad I ordered mine through Amazon. Now, the package has a green label on the front that says "For Apple iPhone". Is there something else I should have been looking for? Here's the URL:
http://www.amazon.com/Rivet-Stereo-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1210099915&sr=8-1
And it says "iPhone compatible"
Did the ones you got from Amazon have a 3.5mm connector? Was it the same URL I provided? If not would you please give me the URL you ordered from?

Now, I agree with everything you said and, even though the connector is 2.5mm, the headset does seem quite nice. Haven't received an answer to my Rivet email and not really expecting one. ;)

Having trouble reading?

dJays: $99
mJays adaptor (with mic/button): $29

That's under $130 for earphones that'll blow any Shures aside from E500s out of the water.

Oh, wow! I was off a whole $70 (less than that with sales tax and shipping if applicable) ! ! !

Still don't like them :p

AJ...mine has the iPhone plug...no adapter needed fits just like the Apple ones...pulled up my order and the item number is: 00-91890-02; ASIN B000SSSUG0

I would contact Amazon and tell them they sent you the wrong ones or they were packaged wrong...they have 9 remaining as of this post.

Other good new...I found a working business phone number for Rivet although no one answered so far so will keep trying. Being business it should be ok to post and if not the mods will remove and I will get it to you another way. (949)502-8370

PS...this is the url to my order: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SSSUG0
