dJays: $99
mJays adaptor (with mic/button): $29

That's under $130 for earphones that'll blow any Shures aside from E500s out of the water.

Umm...I had a pair on, and while I didn't do a thorough testing of every aspect of the earphone, these were similar to the Shure E2's.

The E500 (and SE530) use three drivers, they produce a sound that blows the dJays out of the water, (milk and cookies). The dJays are a nice alternative if you don't like the wrap-around style of the Shure's, but iThink that the CX300's would be my choice for the price.

AJ...mine has the iPhone plug...no adapter needed fits just like the Apple ones...pulled up my order and the item number is: 00-91890-02; ASIN B000SSSUG0

I would contact Amazon and tell them they sent you the wrong ones or they were packaged wrong...they have 9 remaining as of this post.

Other good new...I found a working business phone number for Rivet although no one answered so far so will keep trying. Being business it should be ok to post and if not the mods will remove and I will get it to you another way. (949)502-8370

PS...this is the url to my order: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SSSUG0

I'm returning mine tomorrow (got the RMA and return label as soon as I saw your post) and have ordered from the URL you so kindly provided. I also wrote down Rivet's phone number. How on earth did you find a working number for them? I called the one listed inside the packaging. I hope they give you your money back. If not, even though it's more work, you could contact your credit card company.

I guess I was feeling more disappointment, then anything else, when I noticed the 2.5mm connector. They looked like the perfect solution and I was eager to try them out. The small gel set, provided, gave me a perfect fit! I should get the one I just ordered in about a week (same as the others). Amazon ships from a location less than 2 hours (driving distance) from where I live :)

Oh, and I'm saving a little bit of money. The ones I ordered were $26.81 and these were only $25.59.

Thank you so much! :D

That's why I stopped short of the E500s. I much prefer these to the e3s I used to own, and the e4s, SE210s and er6is I've tried. If I'd had the money at the time I would have gone for the qJays, as they have dual drivers, but I was very surprised with my dJays. Much like when I first moved from my iPod buds to my e3s, moving from the e3s to the dJays brought out even more I'd missed in my music.

But that's the thing, when you get past a certain point in 'quality' audio equipment is all preference.

I don't know about the e4's, The E4's clearly lack a thumpy bass, but other then that, there are some amazing features that I still am shocked about every time I put my E4's in

Rivet NEVER UPDATE

UPDATE: I have tried calling the number I found for two days now. The phone number is active and is a business number.

I called in 3 times yesterday and selected the customer service extension...NO ANSWER. I called a 4th time and hit the operator extension and actually got a person. She said the president was in and asked if I wanted to speak to him and I said "yes, that would be terrific...Thank You" She sent the call forward...and you gussed it...it went to his voice mail. I left him a message explaining that I had not recieved my order and that I had attempted to email and call customer service numerous times and left my phone number and order number in hopes that he would call back....NOTTA!

I have tried all day today, now upto 10 times and not one extension has been answered. I am fed up with this company and have warned him that I would post in every iPhone forum that I can find to warn them about the lack of customer service for his company.

For those that are willing...I request that you Google "Rivetnow" and find my Apple forum post (its on page 3 of the search currently) and click the link. The more people I get clicking on that link..the more it sends it to page one of the search. Its titled "Apple - Support - Discussions - Beware Rivet iPhone Headphones..." I will do this until they contact me and either refund my order or ship it to me. Once they do that then I will remove the post but until then, I will do everything I can to "help" their reputation.

Thank You for Your Assistance in this endevor!!!

Just came back from Apple Discussion forums . . . after reading someone's post about the address possibly being an apartment complex, I'm not so sure I'll be getting a delivery from Amazon on that headset. It's sounding more and more like Rivet may be headed out of the door. The good thing is that Amazon won't charge till they ship AND like the other pair I have the return option. Too bad that the company seems unreliable because it looks like they carry a decent product.

Rivet finally REPLIES!

As promised, I stated that I would provide an update when recieved. Today I finally recieved an email and will accept it as a resonable answer for now. I am going over my bank records to validate that I was not charged. I still feel that they should have put an explanation on the web site and responded to emails/phone calls instead of leaving everyone hanging.

Here is there reply:

"Dear Gary,

We are deeply sorry for this long hiatus. As you may not know, Rivet International has been recently acquired by Vaja Corp. Over the last month, we have been involved in the transition process and trying to resolve several technical difficulties, so we decided to close our business temporarily. We didn't process any orders nor ship any products. However, server issues prevented us from updating our mail inbox, website and our administration system correctly. As a result, the system accepted a few random orders from April 1st until April 14th without any notice. Please note that the payment was not processed so no purchase occured. You can verify this by calling to your credit card company.

Nonetheless, we understand your frustration for not receiving the product you ordered along with a proper explanation of our special situation. Please accept our sincere apologies for this unfortunate event.

Best regards,

Customer Service Dept.
Rivet International"

I will update the Apple Forums with this as well...Still could have done better Rivet!

I'd say that they should have offered you a free pair but it still looks like they are going or already out of business.
I agree that they shouldn't have left customers hanging out there. And what I read is not a reasonable explanation for not answering the phone.

Well I guess that Rivet/Amazon wasn't OOS on the headphones. Mine have shipped and should be here this week. I hope, this time, I have the 3.5m connector

I just recieved another set from Amazon for backup. So they are still out there.

Also confirmed that Rivet did NOT take any funds out of my account for the order that was never sent. I still stand by all of my posts that they have very poor if no customer service "currently" and that with the merger we can only hope that all gets better and maybe even the products will improve. I do not expect anything from Vaja/Rivet until after June or release of iPhone2.

Hopefully they will continue to produce this style of headphone and improve the materials used and maybe the sound a little. I just hope they do not loose the lanyard style as this is the primary reason I love these headphones.

I'm glad that Rivet did not charge you for the undelivered headsets and I agree that their customer service (based on your experience) is poor to non existent. I will not be contacting, ordering or engaging Rivet in any way now or in the future. I've been stuck/left hanging by one company and vowed to do whatever I can to prevent being in that situation again.

The 2nd best feature has to be the lanyard design. I LOVE that! The first best feature, for me, was the ear phone fit because I've had such a hard time finding earphones that fit my small ears. It was perfect!

Although those on eBay look exactly like Sennheiser CX300, but you never know. I run into similar case. I bought a pair of CX400 for about US $100, then I saw something exactly like those on eBay selling for US $20 in HK. So, out of curiosity, I buy them and have a test, and luckly, the real CX400 sounds better, otherwise I will be very unhappy. But is it worth 5 times as much .. well, I don't think it sounds 5 times better. And it really depends on what kind of music you listen to. And Sennheiser has models cheaper than CX300 which looks also exactly the same.

And so far, I really like the sound of my CX400, it's the best headphone I have so far, and also the most expensive one. I think the headphones in the same price range will sound different, some may have stronger bass, some may have better mids ... which one is better is a personal preference, and depends on what kind of music you listen. If you listen instrumental or classical, I think those with stress on mids and highs will be more appealing. But if you like rock, you will want more bass. I think I will try something with 2 drivers if I want to upgrade in the future.

I just grabbed a pair of Sennheiser CX 500's for 70 dollars shipped at digitalfotoclub.com. They are 120 on amazon, great deal and superb headphones.

http://cgi.ebay.com/iPhone-earphone...yZ111693QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Pros
1. Same exact drivers/sound identical to Sennheiser CX300 (tighter, less boomy bass than V-Moda, still big bass though, much clearer mids/crisper highs than V-Moda).

2. CHEAP!

3. Mic/button unit same size as iPhone.

4. Stylish black aluminum jack with silver rings

Cons

1. Build quality slightly lower than regular Sennheisers, mostly in the cord dept. The jack does not have a rubber grommet around the cord junction and since the housing is aluminum, it may eventually cut into the cord. The cord is relatively tangle free however.

2. No case/pouch/trained rodent to hold the buds for you.

3. extra set of flanged tips are made of crappy silicone. They're described as free anyhow. Still too much to pay for them.

I'm continually amazed at how many people have been lulled by V-Moda's schtick. They sound like 20" Jeep speakers with a blown tweeter. Sennheisers have a full rich fun sound with big bass, solid mids and crispy highs.
anyone remember which earbuds these were? i may be interested in a cheap, ebay alternative for now... but the link doesn't work anymore.

Good information in this thread.... sticky?

I like the Vibe Duo's from what I see / hear in this thread... and i'll be picking them up.

Anyone know what happened to the Sennheiser CX300 "sound-alikes" that were being sold on Ebay? Can't seem to find them.

Anyone have a link or updated info?

Thanks!

some of you guys/gals might wanna look at Radius Atomic Bass earphones for iPhone. I too am looking for some replacement earbuds with mic/ipod controls for my iPhone, and for those who like senns CX300, this seems to be a good contender...

If you want more bass than the v-modas then try the Skullcandy FMJ for iPhone. They are made of metal and also have a better plug which doesn't disintegrate after a couple months.

Radius Atomic Bass for iPhone

I came across the Radius Atomic Bass for iPhone at buymeaniphone.com. They got the editors choice award and cost less than $50. I used the "buymeaniphone" code for a 10% discount. Worth every penny. The sound quality is awesome and the bass response is ridiculous.

They got better rating than, bose in ears ($99.99), skullcandy FMJ ($79.99), and got a the same rating as the V-moda Vibe ($99.99) byt CNET.
