Keeping a first gen device doesn't have to be about investment. Who cares if it increases in value or not? Some of use simply think it's cool to keep the first iteration.

I used my iPhone 2g for almost 3 years and will not sell it! However did not develop such an attachment to the iPad - maybe because it was shared with the rest of the family - sold it just yesterday in preparation for iPad 2!!

I can get $300 for my 16gb Wi-Fi iPad. The only thing holding me back is that I kind of wanted to keep it for collection. I know 10 years from now it will be cool to still have an original iPad. But I can also argue that 10 years from now I could just buy another one for probably less than $300. What do you think? Am I being silly for passing up the $300?

Now that Apple is a mass market consumer electronics company selling via WalMart, iPads will collapse in value.

A dime a dozen so to speak.

Sell it now. Hurry!
