Hi guys!

I'm considering putting my 15" 2017 MBP with Touch Bar up for sale, however, I am not sure where to do so or for what price to ask. The specifications are:

Space Grey
1TB SSD
16GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
3.1 GHz Processor
Intel HD Graphics 630
AppleCare for another 2.75ish years

It's still in like-new condition as I have not used it much. I mean, the battery cycle count is still at 14 I think! There are not any noticeable wear marks or scratches. Any help is appreciated greatly! Thanks!

For that model, it’s selling on eBay and Swappa for $2,2250-$2,500. I just bought the same model you have, but with the 560 4GB gpu for $2,500.

I just sold my 2016 15" I7/16/512 on eBay and I set the Buy it Now price at $1600 and it sold minutes after I added the buy it now price. It would have gone for more had I let it run, but I was glad to move it.I would think the newer unit with the 1TB should bring $2000+.

I doubt it’ll bring many more dollars, but it does make the sale more appealing. In an auction it might add a little. You definitely want to put the status in the ad.

I will do that definitely! Thanks for sharing that info!

Ebay charges a lot more in fees. Swappa is a great source for selling.

Wherever you sell it, more info and more photos is always better.

Click the Apple Logo, click about this Mac, and take a photo showing the specs, edit the photo to blur out the serial number.

While you are in the About this Mac section, click on the System Report button below the specs. Scroll down to Power, and where it shows the cycle count, take a photo of that as well to confirm the battery cycle count. Once again, blur out the serial number.

Once again, while you are in About this Mac, click on the service tab on top. Click on Check my service and support coverage. It will take you to the coverage website, copy and paste your serial number and it will confirm coverage type and expiration date, take a photo of that and blur out the serial number.

Post photos of the top, bottom, and sides.

The extra time and effort you put into it up front could translate to a quicker sale at a higher dollar amount.

Good luck!

Craig's List is free and there is little risk compared to eBay.

I sold my 2017 macbook pro 13 inch(No touch bar) on craigslist last week..got 800 bucks cash..I keep on checking the money to make sure its not counterfeit(Overly paranoid) all 100 dollar bills with the blue strip, I guess you can't fake that..just meet in a public place like a mall or something that is what I do its very safe

Except for all the annoying ad-emails... I can't stand selling on Craigslist anymore.

On my ads, I specifically say the location I am willing to meet at(Since I dont have a car Im kind of limited) and that I ONLY accept cash(NO TRADES) that prevents the usual scammers who offer me twice as much as Im selling it for and mention paypal, etc. I used to get that all the time, the scam responses, but doing what I did above stopped that from happening

I guess I will have to try that the next time I go down that path. It gets really frustrating with all the scam responses indeed. Thanks for the tip!

No Problem glad to help..once you specify those things it will get rid of the scammers, they will know not to even bother contacting you. I used to get that BS all the time, scammers offering me 1000 bucks for something I was selling for 200, it was annoying! So I put in the ad, will ONLY meet at one specific location, will only accept cash, no trades..and the scammers disappeared

It is not hard to weed out the scammers. They are usually out of town and want you to mail it to their "brother" and will wire you the money. I have had people ask if they can get the item now and pay weekly. When you get a serious reply, you generally know it. The savings in fees are real!

Oh I know when they are not legit, it's just annoying when my email starts blowing up and you have to filter through to find the legit ones. I remember a time when you could put up an ad on Craigslist and you wouldn't get all the scammer responses. Lol.

I got 800 bucks in cash from someone last week for my macbook pro(all in 100 dollar bills) I know this may sound paranoid, but there is no way to counterfeit the 100 dollar bill right..I keep on checking them, they all have the blue strip, all change from bells to 100(In the blue strip) I dont have time right now to deposit the money in the bank, Im planning on purchasing the 2018 macbook pro from best buy in coming weeks

Scammer come out of the woodwork for any type of Apple products and high end photographic gear. I sold my stuff on eBay for years and years, over 700 sales but the last 4-5 years the scammers are getting to much. At least with CL you do the transaction directly with the person and walk away with cash. Amazon sells a pen to detect bad bills.

Hold it up to the light, and see if you can see Benjamin's image in the translucent right side of the dollar bill. If it's there it is legit (or an exceptionally good fake). Or take it to a bank and have them verify.

If these are fakes they are the most amazing fake bills Ive ever seen LOL..I already used one of them a few days later(Had to go to the market so figured now is my shot to see if they are real) and the lady took it no problem, but she didnt even check, some stores check but some markets the cashier could care less

The vertical stripe is a good indication along with I think $100 have a holographic feature. If you do it often, Amazon or any office supply sells the marker that will tell if it is good paper or bad. I always meet at a Starbucks down the street and it does not hurt to take a picture of their tag if you can. You can also google the person you are going to meet.

Enjoy your new MBPro!

Yeah I already checked each 100 dollar bill and they all have the little bells changing into 100's so I think they are fine. I dont know why I get overly paranoid I just know with the whole 3D printing its easier to create fake money. I think those pens are not reliable, Ive heard they create a lot of false positives it would suck to accuse a person of giving counterfeit money if it turns out to be legit. Yes, starbucks is good, I met the person at the local mall, barnes and noble, he seemed nice, he checked EVERYTHING, looked for any kind of smudge or dent or anything like that(He found none I always keep my electronics perfect) he came with a girl but she went upstairs, guess she just came along for the ride. I was offered 900 from someone else but he responded too quick I didnt want to be a douche bag since I had already offered it to the guy who was coming from an hour away to pick it up. I used textfree app to communicate with him(Did not want him to have my real cell phone number)

I used to work retail, and we checked very carefully any $100 bills we got. I only once every ran into a fake $100 bill in my 8 years of retail, and it was pretty obvious.

If you are are still concerned about it, just take it to the bank and ask if they can verify if they are real bills; you can tell them you just sold something and you wanted to make sure you were given legitimate bills, and they should gladly check for you.

Yeah 99.9 percent chance everything is fine but will deposit the money and see what happens. I wont mention a thing, just put the money in the bank and hopefully its fine. I know the new 100 dollar bills came out in 2013 I believe, to combat the counterfeiters, putting the blue strip and other markers making it very difficult to replicate
