Craigslist success is hit or miss depending on the area. Plus, your sale is limited to your location. You use an eBay or a Swappa, you’ll pay fees, but your audience is larger, ratings systems legitimize the buyer and seller, and you’ll sell at a higher amount which usually offsets the price difference between no fees on Craigslist and PayPal/eBay fees.

The last few times I used Craigslist I got responses, showed up at the public meeting places we agreed to meet, and nobody showed up. With that, along with the scam emails, and my skepticism, I stick with my tried and true.

One other thing to try is Facebook Marketplace.

One good thing I am seeing a lot in NJ is police stations are creating safe zones for Craigslist and Facebook marketplace where you could meet at a public location with cameras.
