JB doesn't really add to the value. Unlocked does. That's why you don't see a separate category for jailbroken iPhones on eBay. Most jailbroken iPhones selling there are also unlocked.

It's easier to sell if it's not jailbroken. There is a larger market for an original condition phone. Jailbreaking is easy and free anyway.

I agree with those saying to wait until you get the new iPhone and sell it unlocked.

I'm going to be selling my 4 here soon and was thinking about unlocking to raise the value. Wondering what you meant by saying wait until I get the new one? Will unlocking my iP4 mess with my contract or upgrades in any way? Thanks!

It simply means at&t won't unlock the iPhone 4 for you until you get the new iPhone and renew the contract (unless the iPhone 4 is already out of contract).

Otherwise, you can use other methods of unlocking and they won't mess with your contract or upgrades.

OP, just a friendly suggestion. You have now spent over 3 hrs (From your first post to the last one you wrote) on this thread asking about the upgrade which could have been used to call the carrier that actually knows, and within 5 minutes you would have gotten an answer ;)
