Separate Laptop For Porn?

As fascinating as a second laptop for porn is...
I find it equally interesting that the primary computer is for online poker

Don't know anything about the OP's circumstances, so there could be special factors involved
But, if OP were a friend of mine, I would say ditch both computers and get out of the house more

Seeing as a .exe will not even run in Linux, you can't be affected by it.

Hence why I suggested linux in the first place. AFAIK, you simply cannot infect it, period. No windows virus can affect it, and I do not think there exists Linux viruses (don't quote me on that).

Hey guys posted this on another forum... They tell me all i have to do is download a Virtual Machine. If i do this, then its close to impossible to get virus or anything even when downloading videos of porn. Anyone have feedback on this? The way they described it, it did not seem real but a few others said yes if you do all of this, then your system will be safe because you are sort of operating two different computers. But i was told its tougher with windows 10 as oppose to 7.

Windows 10 will run a virtual machine just as well as Windows 7.
 
This thread is honestly hilarious. I am not sure if it's a joke or a real thing, but I just find it funny that the OP was willing to buy a second computer just for that, because it seems a bit over the edge. As everyone here suggested, just use a Virtual Machine and you should be... good to go. :D

Sometimes I wonder what guys would do without porn.

Does anyone on this forum has the answer?
 
You really don't want to be using Windows as the VM host. Any flavour of Linux or even something like PC-BSD, but not Windows!

The whole point of this VM would be to reduce the exposure of the main OS from malware. Why would you chose to use a host OS with the greatest chance of being infected by malware? Not saying malware doesn't exist in the Linux world, but it's a lot less prevalent that in the Windows one.

Think of a virtual machine as having a second computer running inside the first one, in a window (just like an app or game). Turn off the virtual machine, and everything is left as it was.

Just like opening up Microsoft word. You open it, do whatever you want with it, and once you're done, you close it. Nothing else on your computer was affected but Word. If you open it back up, you can go back to where you were by opening whatever document you were working on before. Or if you truly messed up, you erase everything and start over.

Same goes for a virtual machine, but instead of a page of text, you are controlling a full operating system, from within another.

So you would open your virtual machine program (let's say virtual box), tell it to turn on your operating system (let's say ubuntu) and you'll see a boot sequence in virtual box's window, just like you do when you turn on a physical computer. Then, you use the "computer" inside virtual box just like a normal one, clicking stuff, downloading whatever and then once you're done, you shut it off, just like you would a physical computer.

Given your level of IT competence isn't the highest, I think sticking with a second laptop will continue to serve you well. Like one of the other posters suggested, a $200 chrome book would give you faps for many years to cum.

I really don't know why everyone is suggestions something that appears to be outside of OPs scope. I really don't picture OP using terminal and putting in the time and work to fix issues that even Ubuntu is going to have. Nevermind setting up a virtual machine and successfully using it...especially a free one that holds your hand less like Virtual Box.

Just get a cheap second laptop OP. Hell, maybe even an older Mac Mini and just connect it to your TV. That was my setup for streaming (non-porn) movies and it was perfect. It looks like Apple has refurbs for about $419 USD on their site.

I think thats the better solution.

I thought about this. I saw it on amazon these chromebooks. However heres a few issues.


1. The laptop size is very small at 11.6'. But i could always connect to a monitor via hdmi? I would prefer laptop size to be 13.3 to 14.1.


2. Theres only 16gb ssd storage. I don't mind if its ssd or not. I'm watching porn and downloading porn. The thing is i rather have a 80gb 5400 rpm hard drive as oppose to an ssd. I assume theres no way to swap hard drive on a chrome book right where i could put a 500gb 5400 rpm into it? Well i dont need 500gb as that would be way over the top. But some videos HD seem to be 2-3gb each. of course i dont need a whole collection of porn. 16gb ssd would be fine but this would require me to delete porn videos i dont want in the library. The other thing is people might say use an external hard drive? Well i have 1 external hard drive thats 1tb but thats for my financial things. I do not want to have any porn related things on it as that can cause virus on it. Most video downloads seem to be 500mb or less. The 500mb ones are already great quality. Some are 50mb or around there. Thoughts on this?


3. Isn't it true you can't use flash or programs like that where if you try to stream porn on certain sites, it won't work?


The other thing is what would be the best computer i could get for porn downloading strictly where it doesn't cost much. Thus better idea to just buy an under $100 laptop on ebay for this? For example my asus laptop is an i3 processor and has 4gb ram and 250gb ssd. I had used this for other things so thats why its upgraded to this. Obviously this laptop was more than fast enough to web browse and do most things. So thats why i used this laptop for only porn. I feel very silly even spending $500 on a laptop for this. The thing is this is mostly for downloading porn. Streaming i don't think its big issue because i stream using main porn sites like *******, redtube, youporn etc.

The chromebook price is very good. But is there any issues with what i mentioned thought i might consider be a problem? Again the issues are... storage is pretty low... the screen size is a bit small... but can u connect hdmi to monitor? However, i rather want it on a bed so screen size would be very small.. and im not sure it streams? I read it doesnt work with microsoft office etc so not sure if something like this is different. Or should i just get an i3 or i5 processor?


Yes im thinking a lot about this. I would definitely prefer a separate laptop for this. Im upset that my old laptop went bad because of this. Otherwise if i could repair it for cheap, i still use this as i like it.
 
Chrome books are meant to be used with the cloud. All data stored on the Internet. That is their intention.

As for flash, chrome has flash built in. So, for example, if you had a PC without flash installed, the chrome web browser would still play flash videos.

2. Buy a chromebook online for less than $200. The thing is i don't want any porn files on cloud though because if they detect porn files, wouldn't it get deleted? So basically I can only have max 14gb if i only use my main computer since even though its 16gb, well the OS still uses 1 or 2gb right?


3. Buy a new cheap laptop for $350 or less


4. Buy a used laptop on ebay/amazon for $150 or less


5. Just stream porn only on main computer. But my main issue is well i have to download files and this isn't possible.

The first option is the cheapest one, and decently easy to implement. If I were in your shoes that's probably what I'd do.

Not judging at all, I'm just some random stranger on the internet and I don't know you, but if you're at the point where you're actually thinking of buying a separate laptop for porn, maybe you should seek help, I'm not sure that's too healthy a behaviour.

Maybe the Jumper Ezbook 2 would be better suited for your needs?

yes that laptop looks pretty good. That certainly is nice with the amount of space as in 64gb.


But if getting a chromebook, could you buy one of those external space like those sandisk things? Its very tiny like microsd? I see some very cheap ones on amazon for 32gb and 64gb etc. So with chrome book thats 16gb and probably 14gb available, does that mean you could add more space to it with these? For example say you download 12 gb of things. YOu have 2gb left. Then you transfer this to the microsd? Then you download another 10gb. Then you transfer then to the sd? Let say that SD is 32gb. So essentially you have 46gb of storage? Is that correct? But chromebook screen is very small.


Would people here still suggest virtual machine though? Virtual machine sounds very tempting etc.
